Parklife (Audio CD)

Customer Review

With "Parklife" was published in 1994, the third studio album by Blur, and can be considered confidently as their total stimmgstes and qualitatively best album. The sequel to "Modern Life is Rubbish" established the band around Damon Albarn finally at the top of the British music scene and drove the Britpop boom to the extreme. The album was on the island an absolute bestseller and remained well over a year in the "Top 40".
Even in the rather hesitant Continental Europe the first single "Girls and Boys" reached many top tenth
The album is characteristic of the early stages of Blur - biting and sarcastic lyrics with lots of social criticism, considering the human daily life and the associated fates. A great CD that I like to hear from time to time. Sound of Youth, you know?
Outstanding are next "Girls and Boys", the bittersweet "To The End" and the great lyrics written "End of a Century" - and last but not least the oblique and super-ironic "Parklife".
Unlike some younger work of the band, which I would not wholeheartedly recommend genre fans, this CD is a real "must".
