I liked to read the novel to the original form. Mail exchange, it offers a new time between the immediacy of oral exchange and the time of regular mail. The style is in-between too. There is no urgency in oral where silences are so often heavy or formalism of the letter. The character is defined only by what he wrote, even if the reader is free to read between the lines. It is basically a mise en abyme of the situation of any author.

Yet I struggled to get into it. Reading this series of electronic messages seemed at first as laborious than reading a ton of people that clutter every day my own box. Then gradually, I attached to this Leo just out of a sentimental rupture and this Emmi to marital happiness not so complete. Leo, a little drunk, sends fiery messages and moves me. I found myself voyeur in this relationship built on Internet that is completely alien to me. The lovers mechanism is Machiavellian. It is a relationship that seems to commit to anything or any consequences out. This is great because it is "taken" and that he needs to recover. They say things freely behind their electronic avatars. Then they become addicted and are impatient at the screen waiting for the next message. So they feel that the virtual encroaches dangerously on reality. They feel the fear of confrontation which is at once the fear of being disappointed and question the balance of real life.
