I run the monitor via DisplayPort 1.2 to a PC with an Nvidia GTX Win8.1 660Ti. Everything else (HDMI, Windows7 ...) I would absolutely not recommend. So Windows 7 is expected as unfortunately now quite old operating system even more problems with the scaling than Win8.1 and HDMI is not enough for the required 60Hz refresh rate from.
The aspect ratio and the resolution is blessing and a curse for this monitor:
Surfing the Internet: The vast majority of website owners have still not realized that 99% of the monitors are transverse and not on edge. So who is already using a 16: 9 monitor annoyed about websites that exploit only 1/3 of the image in width, must prepare themselves with this monitor that in size as Facebook only from a narrow strip in the middle is that perhaps exploit 1/5 of the picture. With Windows 8.1 and Chrome, however, you can still hinbiegen it thanks to the DPI scaling to 150% and direct write that even websites are bearable displayed large and sharp even in full screen mode. Otherwise, you have to simply get used to it, that the browser generally only 1/4 of the monitor and takes you alongside other applications has open.
Windows programs: Here the chaff from the wheat. An Excel, Word or Photoshop is quite outstanding with the resolution rightly, but some "cheap" software does not use the scale. The result is, at best, blur effects, but it can also bishin to misplaced buttons, etc. go. If in doubt, you have to disable DPI scaling for these bananas software and to live with it that Scripture is super small. However, I hope that this problem over time to end when the 4k displays are common.
Games: Here only a yes and no: Some games (for example, The Crew, NFS Rivals, DCS, Tomb Raider or even older titles like Guildwars1 / 2 or C & C Zero Hour) come with 21: 9 wonderful deal. But even AAA titles such as Diablo 3 or Starcraft II's without tweaks only bar on the right and left in full screen mode. Here you should inform necessarily on relevant websites before. In ego-Shooten me is in this size immediately ill - I play something anyway hardly, but who thus generally already has a few problems: Stay away from this monitor (also because of possible problems with the response time)! However, I play said DCS A-10C (an A-10 flight simulation), and because the monitor is just gigantic, because you now have a lot more from the cockpit and the environment in mind. Due to the rather slow screen changes I have no problems with any streaks or the image size to be in this game. However, the GTX 660Ti is so pretty on the stop, this monitor will probably make a video card-new purchase soon inevitable ....
Other: No LG Driver for Windows 8.1 (Support ends currently at 8.0). True Color Finder does not work does not, the Grid software also, instead, will be switched off from incomprehensible reasons during installation so important UAC, the calibration tool but simply will not start. This is from LG truly shameful, but not essential for me, the color calibration is as certainly not change for an amateur myself the world ;-).
Display: Light halos can be seen at the corners, but only in dark image content. Who gets excited about it, certainly stirs also about a lonely speck of dust on the display. -> For normal people negligible. I myself find the image quality bombastic and the best I've ever had. Sure, you can always see the grass grow. Otherwise, I will not express the image quality, which would anyway only all subjective and there are plenty of websites that review the means of measurement technology as possible to understand.
Those are the shortcomings in daily operations, it makes up one of the monitor with incredible colors (against which no TN panel even begin to report something has) and just this enormously practical aspect ratio, you work finally useful in multiple applications simultaneously thanks to the can. So elements of Photoshop for Word / Excel & Co shift - a dream.
So Conclusion: Already, the device is an absolute dream, but with a few software problems that are resolved but certainly in the future. In the next version of Windows's certainly look even a little bit better and at least the mainstream applications are upgraded gradually to UHD capability. And if not, it is also so maybe not pretty, but acceptable. Also the current and especially the next generation is likely to raise the following graphics cards in demanding games framerate back into the green zone.
Technically, the monitor is functioning properly, Windows 8.1 & Chrome plays thanks to the DPI Scaling function with direct write one of its strengths and fully during the installation, there is nothing at all Difficult, all Plug'n'Play, DP 1.2 should the monitor just the same on Enable start.
