Why lucidity lives abroad (Paperback)

Customer Review

The first thing to say about this book is that it is far too long. It would be reduced from 50% to at the most 200 pages. We really find no interest in the prudishness of our author who is not able to blend into the mass of a swimming pool swimmers in Sweden and everyone is naked and keeps a bathing suit. Our little French should go into an American gym and there too it would have changing rooms, showers, Jacuzzi and sauna where human side of everyone, whatever the age is naked. I never checked the women's side, but it must be the same. Note also that collective showers are common in France and much of quune men take a real shower totally undressed. This has nothing to do in this book.

There are many pages like this, then there are repetitions one country to another, of a chapter to another. The speech is simple and short if reduced to the essentials. I will not follow the book for that very reason, because verbosity verbosity lead to a response. I do not mention details like the victory of the extreme left in Greece and not mention Podemos Spain.

The first idea is that Bouzou lack of culture. He would do well to read a classic: Marshall McLuhan lextension body by ALL the inventions of man from cut stone, and even before, as we shall see. So he wants to reduce human history to three inventions that he called revolutions: the Neolithic Revolution, the first industrial revolution and revolution lhyper-NBIC, nanotechnology, biotechnology, information (that he puts in the plural which makes the absurd word) and cognition, translation Approximate langlais "Nanotechnology, Biology and Medicine, Science Information, and Cognitive Sciences' ([...]): Nanotechnology, Biology and Medicine, linforamtion Sciences and Cognitive Sciences. Notice the plural. It is true that it digitizes the data instead of scanning. His language is approximate.

THE "REVOLUTION" NEOLITHIC

The Neolithic revolution is not a revolution but an evolution that began before glaciation and which reached its climax: the emergence of agriculture and lélevage between 5000 and 2000 BC according to the zones in the world. Before glaciation human communities appear to have had almost domesticated animals living close to the men and this seems to be goats. We could also mention other domesticated animals very early, or as semi-domesticated pigs. As for lagriculture, if the passage of wild cereals to cereal crops seem relatively simple at the genetic selection by hybridization of single species (just say it makes it very difficult that these prehistoric men were called), it appears that corn is a special case because spending wild corn (several species still exist in Mexico) to modern corn that can not naturally reproduce without the hand of man, a passage that all agricultural research in Mexico for example has not yet been able reproduce, thus passing from one to another seems a particularly complicated genetic selection by hybridization.

But this immense evolution dHomo Sapiens around the world and with different centers around different plants but also almost in the same time range of about twenty thousand years (quon may restrict the past ten thousand years to take into account that the site Gobleki of Tepe built of hewn stone and carved around ten thousand years ago), can in no way be reduced to a revolution. Moreover it is the result dune puisquoriginel former division of work in the present case Homo Sapiens. No survival for three years if the present case at least the kids are not carried, breastfed and monitored because of their physiological and physical dependence. With a life expectancy 25 to 29 years, with high infant mortality and child lon as little imagine that three children reach reproductive adulthood (12-13 years) and be sexually active for about fifteen of years, the woman must produce at least eight to ten new born in his life, 12 to 15 years. Then and only then can the present case, as we know what causes it, grow in number, migrate and occupy the entire planet (occupation ended about 45 000 years ago). This represents for these women to give birth to a child every 18 months. The adult female is then almost always carrier of a child in her womb or at her breast. It seems more and whether women who had the decorator function (rock paintings) and therefore which also had a spiritual role. That's a lot of négliogé in the "revolution" Neolithic our author.

BOUZOU AND LANGUAGE

But our author would have benefited from the question of the origin of language which he endows Homo Sapiens. The articulated human language unique, dHomo Sapiens is an invention from nothing but First of mutations dictated by the essence of the present case (fast runner long distance bipedal) as labaissement larynx used opportunistically to communicate (absolute necessity for survival): The first invention of vowel-consonant articulation with rotating each others, invention of the appointment of sensual objects (especially visually) discriminated against and there is conceptualizing a virtual dimension of the human spirit carried by the brain and the central nervous system, which can in no way be reduced to 0 and 1 because it comes only chemistry, molecules, particles and other material elements of neurons that sorganisent "electrically" to transport and store the elements of knowledge involved and then recognize the elements and discriminated and conceptualized.

He then discovered that this language is lextension central nervous system that includes the sense organs and all the sensors of the body and that it triggers a lintelligence growth phenomenon of man by simple virtual building his mind. This would have otherwise avoid rejection gallican Gallic soul, revealing its typical anti-religiosity of a secular French. He could then understand that religion as the whole spiritual, philosophical and everything all scientific inventions are dHomo Sapiens for its development after its survival and therefore are extensions of the human mind, itself an extension of the central nervous system including all organs and sensual all sensors in the body.

HUMAN inventiveness

This language, the religion, the science, this conceptualization are the engines of our species spiritually and this is thanks to them that we then have invented the first technological invention, whatever it is: the ax, the bow, the javelin launcher, fishing and of course the wheel (although all human communities lont not invented). Let's not talk of writing invented separately in many civilizations that navaient no contact between them, including in Central America by Homo Sapiens that not very advanced navaient mutations which some attribute this invention. When we look at human inventiveness on the very long term, and from his real starting point, one that one can study, namely the language of voice calls of higher apes, we understand each invention Quà intellectual capacity of man grows together with its language and its conceptualization. The clean sweep of Descartes which our author speaks repeatedly is a harmful myth because it carries with it saucissonnées science phenomena like this clean slate into chunks. Lempirisme is in this method, and his speech in the method of Pascal also gold we got out of that thought clean slate with at least Einstein and his theory of relativity. Something can exist outside of me that I am not able dappréhender (meaning sensory or manually enter), but I can understand by a virtual construction of a model of the thing. Artificial Lintelligence is such a model of actual human lintelligence. And like any invention it will cause a qualitative shift in actual human lintelligence. Lintelligence function of man is that he invents machines and uses. Perhaps even this development will surely quon with nanorobots dun dun kind or another, but even lintelligence of man will have to take a step just be able dintégrer these intellectual nanorobots.

All this is beyond our author who ultimately trying to convince us that his "hyper-revolution" is inevitable and what napportera only good if we want to, but probably-in-little-much-passionately-but-definitely-not - "not at all" bad because the man is inherently neither good nor bad, that is to say, both good and bad.

When i said this, there are few other substantive comments to make because this is the crux of the problem.

HIMMLER

His long quotation from Himmler, page 188, in fact borrowed to another author and not quoted from the original, is very poorly understood. For Himmler there can be a return to anything dancien. There is in him a cult of the resurgence of mother nature, which is the first mother nature nurturing, which involves natural selection but not like that of animals. Natural selection must be humanly controlled to the man. This involves the elimination of those that are not acceptable according to particular criteria. HG Wells had already before World War envisaged a society from where all people of color would have been eliminated, except the Jews (sic for people of color) as they agree to marry non-Jews. He added to those there drunkards, social parasites, etc. Note that the same principle is today defended by Scientology church: eliminate all those who napportent not any value to society. What makes it even more odious dHimmler this is the goal: eliminate all those who in one way or another threaten the purity of the Aryan race, that he called Indo-Germanic. And this elimination is not, as says our author, reduced the Jews but also covers the Gypsies, homosexuals and others again, not counting all the opponents that they are Indo-Germanic or not Aryans or not. Ignore it trivializes dHimmler quotation and almost of man who would like a romantic nature. One begins to hear the first verse of a poem by Goethe, "Röslein, Röslein Rot"

BOUZOU AND STRUCTURES

Similarly the use of systematic vertical spatial metaphor of Marx, infrastructure-superstructure, the blocks in understanding, dune essential dimension: the spiritual dimension of human present case, Homo Sapiens. I'm not even convinced that it ny has two levels. He had two nen for Marx, but Marx had limited vision of his world in the 19th century, well that he did not do the mistake of our author, that want to reach the truth by comparing different countries and situations. Compare is not proven. Compare proves nothing, especially that it compares only the surfaces that he has barely scraped, scratched by visits by air turbo-tourist. He can then put Quà hiding information sen dun or two informants and nothing else. It adds in addition a large body of historical or philosophical alas data strongly tinged Wikipedia.

He would speak of means and modes of production. It does not. He uses magic words as NBIC NENTRE but not in detail. It thus lacks the concreteness of what he calls linfrastructure a concrete complex, complicated and hierarchical sets with nested into each other and dialectically linked. The dialectic is not a philosophy or method that it employs. He should then talk about ways and ways of managing these resources and production methods. But this is where an almost complete childrens part of what he calls the superstructure. It offers in this superstructure abstract words but speaking very little "work", "right", "policy", "art" and adds an ellipsis, which is unacceptable in serious work.

Here it seems sinspirer of Ideological Devices Detat Louis Althusser, but in short version. These "superstructures" as he calls them are infrastructure on which they sappuient.

Unions scattered into a myriad dorganisations. *

Justice, and France is probably the only country in the world that has four justices: natural justice, criminal or not, trade justice, prudhommale justice and administrative justice. He talks about not trust this face French justice. There are enough for one can be condemned by the administrative justice and acquitted by the normal justice without that fact cancels the previous one. And I speak knowingly.

The unit aberrant French policy on a number of points and above that has one or two elective levels too. Where other European countries have local, regional and national, France municipal, community (community of communes, urban community, etc.), departmental, regional and national, and taxes at each level . And Paris helps den have one more: the Grand Paris. This is an urgent reform to do to cut dau least 30% this administrative mismanagement. Not a word about that.

And everything else with the word "art" more dots. What is he doing religions, arts (plural), sports, cultural activities or not, and countless other forms of thought and of activities involving imagination, thought, fun, and a few other things like that, from the point of view of the producer or consumer. Do not talk about the sex that it rule in one word: Viagra gives the man adult the chance to take the delight of the woman and he promises us that soon thanks to nanotechnology we can, men and women, hold a whole night without regardless of the age. Our author is in the process dexposer his fantasies in such a way that it does not hit its prudishness.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

When he speaks of Piraeus, he would do well to review its Mediterranean history and he would know that the masters of the sea were the Phoenicians 6000 BC about a hundred from year before. Carthage falls that Piraeus is already ancient history.

But the best is his assertion on page 328 that France has managed to integrate its immigrants during the war boom. He forgets the colonial war for 17 of those thirty glorious the slums of the suburbs until at least the end of the 60s, so for 25 of the thirty glorious (that he learns about the Nanterre who was the heart of the FLN, they say (see a recent film) in the Paris region for a certain war. He forgets the hundreds of drowned in the Seine in 1961. If this is successful integration, quest-that would be a loupée integration? Looks like our author speaks to an audience that has not even followed the course of history yet highly allusive on these matters of any class of a high school. Dailleurs do they have history in vocational school?

You will also learn the long-distance trade was born in Europe. Well, well. First of the distance is relative: three hundred kilometers to Cromagnon was to be a great distance between the Dordogne and the Pyrenees. But he forgets specious activity lOcéan Indian even already in Roman times but without any reservation until the arrival of the Portuguese colonialists, Dutch, English and French. China was there until the death of Queen lamiral Zheng He and 1433 death and "buried" at sea despite what Wikipedia says.

His conclusion about "change look" as if cétait a pair of glasses or socks seems rather superficial. It is urgent to change the mentality of Europeans in general and the French in particular, but this is a little more difficult than our author seems to want to conclude: "We just have to change the look so that our problems are solved.
