Taste
Overall, I feel the taste as full of character and yet velvety. Dominate notes of wood and sweet tropical fruits. You have to know that the rum is blinded from different rum distillates of producers (at Rum usual). Thus camps play in bourbon and sherry casks in. Next you can taste chocolate, nutty and citrus notes. The flavors show usually is stronger the less drunk per sip, the warmer the Botucal is drunk. Interestingly, taste and aroma are more intense the longer the rum is open in the glass.
Aroma
It sounds a bit absurd, but I must confess that I am the incredibly diverse flavors actually achieve more with the pure drinkable premium rums as the taste. For development, I recommend (which already briefly mentioned) the rum to give a little time before drinking (fill and let stand for some time).
In flavor, the Botucal unfolds with lots of caramel sweetness and proportions of tropical fruits. They are joined by spicy hints of walnut and cinnamon. However, a particularly distinct feature of Botucal are the soft hints of pleasant woody notes.
Color
Dark amber to mahogany.
Conclusion
For me, this rum is just the right balance of pleasant aromas, flavors and alcohol components. I find that he is rightly to be found on various lists at the top: a real premium rum with an exclusive and characterful (but never intrusive) and velvety aroma.
The Botucal is currently my favorite rum. I would like to know about this.
