Actually come from a classical corner of the music on the piano - but I am working for two years more with jazz harmonies. If you are sufficiently familiar with classical harmony, it is a I think quickly possible with this Realbook really good jazz standards also to be able to play at sight soon.
First, the optics: ring binder with plastic back, if you often play with it here dissolve like to the small plastic clips, but overall very convenient. Musical score is not great, but playable. Large print, only important is listed in each title are composer / year value and the most common forms of harmonization.
If you have no experience with jazz harmony must be purely Peeve there slowly - the longer you get busy the easier it gets, however. Myself, it is not particularly difficult fallen and I think whoever several years experience with a musical instrument has can be read back quickly. The notation is carried out not in false or inaccurate guitar notations but in real "jazz style" with which one should deal, however long - that pays off later.
To use: Laying pencil and note paper ready or a corresponding notation program (eg Finale etc.) and if possible a basic book on music theory (eg, Schneider), a lot of time and good ears, accuracy and at least initially a little perseverance - fun comes naturally alone ;-)
Other Real Books are the way the Latin Real Book, 2 or 3 different Real / fakebooks from Hal Leonard have little overlap and sometimes even what chord progressions terms complement each other well.
This is not a cheap book for guitar beginners but a real help for a good introduction to jazz and world all-time standards. I helped the book very much and it is never boring because the choice is wide and you can also quickly recognize successes when you delve into the matter.
