my first router to create a small private home network was necessary because I could not operate at the same time a PC and a console on the Internet with my KabelBW modem. That was the main reason for a purchase decision, since the constant Umstöpseln the network cable to the modem bugged permanently.
After researching on the internet, there was now a few ways: Wired or Wireless - Netgear, Linksys or TP-Link ... here was good advice.
I knew only that I needed a router without integrated modem and I am not so enthusiastic about Wireless. More than 40 Euros should not cost the router because I only wanted to connect multiple Internet-enabled devices with my KabelBW modem. That's it. No more frills or special features were desirable.
So the choice ultimately fell on the Netgear WNR2000 Wireless Network Router 300Mb. In addition, I ordered 3 network cable from BigTec on Amazon to 0.25 m to 1.00 m cable length. And a few days later I had the router and the BigTec cable at home.
Now I must add that I am in network matters and things in the technical and administrative staff an absolute amateur and due to some buyers opinions on the Internet had some concerns about the ease of handling of the installation and commissioning of Routeres. These concerns should turn out during the commissioning fortunately unfounded.
But now, in order:
1. Router unpacked and checked for completeness of the ingredients. Everything therewith! All three manuals unfortunately only in French, Scandinavian and English. But images are often louder than words. :-) Thus as shown, all actions of the English description performed.
2. I should again point out that I am not a fan of wireless, so I have all the equipment to be connected with the BigTec network cables to the router and those connected with the supplied router network cable from Netgear with my modem KabelBW.
3. To test turned on my PC, start Firefox and go to Google as a test page ..... nothing went! Irritation took hold. I thought I did not have automatic IP address setting and should now rumfurwerkeln in the Network Configuration Menu of the PC ...
4. I have Firefox then closed and restarted, and voila ..... everything worked as described. The router has been properly recognized and I got a message on my screen this.
Now I can finally with my console (PS3), my PC and also with my Samsung SmartTV simultaneously to the Internet. For my PC I have done on the homepage of my ISP a Speedtest and have full range in down and upload.
I can about the longevity or a long-term test currently say anything, but until then I can not fault. The router I'm just out when not in use. The router can be easily hidden in the TV rack behind my TV, so the network cable for all devices connected to the router are maintains it short.
All in all, up to now a clean thing, the device can only recommend.
