Now the music on period instruments has already arrived in the 20th century in the middle, of course, to offer again with the promise of a compared to the Familiar whole new listening experience. In fact: This recording sounds very fresh and can recognize the particular relationship of Carmina Burana with the popular music of that time. But: The conductor sets - how it performs in the booklet itself - the main focus on wind instruments (mainly brass) and percussion. They come in the recording as well as beautifully clear advantage. The choir and especially the strings act - say exaggerated - like a blurred sound in the background. Is that really better? This sound may well be historical (classical recordings from the period in question is similar to hear), but perhaps there is also the intention behind it, to offer something "hot groovy" today. (But I recommend rather to take up the version of Carmina Burana for pianos and percussion.) PS There are several reviews that do not refer to this CD on this product page.
