Once again a novel by Kristin Higgins, who fits perfectly into the typical scheme: a sympathetic heroine, a (now) lovable hero, people meet, trying, separates and finds himself definitively. Very refreshing is once again that the usual other authors inevitable misunderstanding between the two main actors, as well as missing the Hinterm Berg hold important information about the relationship. They say just what problem plagues one and does not hide it ... Thus, one could say that this novel but is actually fine and wonderful. Yes - almost ... a hook there: the name, the Barefoot Fraulein (yes, misspelled), Gretchen,: as a German who also love to read in English, my stomach turns inside out when I soaking up this body of work on stereotypes Wilhelmina and Otto (halloooo ??), the surname even more absurd, pork liver as Sunday lunches (..), the inevitable Nazi to the fatherland and the Germanic image of a tall, blond and blue-eyed woman are just a few. If this incredible exaggeration was intentional, the reason not obvious to me - on the contrary, I find it very discouraging and disconcerting. This is the image of Germany that it should be corrected and extinguished at least since the 2006 World Cup hope. Or is it not gotten through to New England? Why only 3 stars, otherwise it would have been 4-5. Pity!
