This works without installing anything. I already advise to connect the tip to the smartphone and only after the USB key. This will leave you freer hand.
After a short analysis of media files, the smartphone will display almost immediately in a small top left icon to signify the USB connection.
To explore the contents of the key using the application "My files" for example (that is provided based on these models) and look for the "usbstorage" directory you will find a subdirectory "sda" that contains the file the key.

Before disconnecting the key in software think disconnect the USB connection on the smartphone in the year from the notifications screen.
I then tried with a USB key 3 but they require too much tension and it was not anticipated at the time these smartphones were created. USB 2 is already very well ... and it's super convenient to use a USB key on his smartphone.
