1. What makes the D600 particularly? What about the dust and oil problem about?
-------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------
First Nikon ventured with this camera a revolutionary step - The full format digital equivalent of 35 mm film cameras remained hitherto affluent enthusiasts or professionals subject, prices were roughly 2000-5000, but with the D600 offered Nikon now a semiprofessional Alternative at an affordable price.
Shortly after the release of the camera have been loud complaints on the Internet - The camera has a dust and oil problem, the sensor would quickly get dirty.
The complaints stopped, but very few seem to have noticed that there has never been such a problem in this form and Nikon was able to fix the actual problem quickly.
A component was not completely installed as standard fit, which led to the sensor when triggering deposits.
But I can tell you - after I had sent my D600, which I bought soon after the appearance of Nikon, such problems never occurred again. For almost a year I have the camera and the sensor is clean. The models of recent serial number should also already have no problem of this kind.
2. General comments for enthusiasts
-------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------
The D600 is very similar in construction and equipment of semi-professional DX camera Nikon D7000.
Please note the following:
- AF module with "only" 39 fields (the D700 and the new D7100: 51)
- Only 1 / 4000s as the shortest exposure time (the D7000 / D7100, D700 / D800: 1 / 8000s)
Partially protected from the body part from Aluminum / -
- No 100% view at your fingertips
- Sensor is the second best in its class (the best, the D800)
-> That is, the dynamics and the noise performance currently unmatched.
- 2 SD card slots, no CF card
- Only 5.5 frames per second - not entirely suitable for sports photography.
3. Is the D600 suitable for me?
-------------------------------------
The Nikon D600 is a sensible investment for you if:
- You take pictures of Photography will.
- You are ambitious, but would like to purchase for cost reasons not D800.
- You do not need the additional features of the D800 or better.
- Do not attach great importance to internal image editing (effects such as Colour Key, etc.).
- You know what is going on with aperture, shutter speed, ISO sensitivity and white balance, and deal with it on a daily basis.
- Your demands on the operation of the camera and the quality of results demonstrably can not be met with a more favorable DSLR (the pudding is in the eating here!)
- You're not going to give priority to sports photography.
- More exemption and / or low noise due to the need of your favorite genres of photography at a higher sensitivity than the DX format can offer *.
* Remember: The D7100 can everything the D600 can, in some areas even more. If you do not need to demonstrate that they FX sensor for your photography, you shoot yourself by purchasing an FX camera may itself in the leg. Invest if possible rather in good lenses, these have more proportion of high image quality, as the camera.
The Nikon D600 is for you no meaningful investment if:
- You just quickly want to shoot good pictures easily without making a lot of settings *.
- They mainly take pictures to capture moments on holiday, at family gatherings, etc.
- You want to have nothing to do with subsequent image processing. (PS, Lightroom) *
- You rarely or never intend to take pictures in low light conditions.
- You are looking for a compact DSLR.
- You do not intend to purchase additional lenses in the mid to high price range.
- You do not care for a magnesium enclosure with sealed controls.
- You would like a folding screen.
- You like and often operate sports photography.
- You only one or two possible want to own / use zoom lenses with a large focal length range.
* Of course, the D600 is also suitable for those things, but there are cheaper cameras provide supporting these purposes.
In any case, it should be noted that the only plausible reason to buy a full-frame camera of powerful and large sensor. If you do not intend to exhaust these possible, take a look instead at about the D5200 or D7100 to. If you want to save even more, the D5100 or D7000 are the recommended alternatives.
4. Why does not Canon 6D?
-----------------------------
Immediately after the appearance of the D600 Canon saw apparently brought in a tight spot and brought the 6D to the market. A similar model, as it seems at first, but on closer inspection falls on why the Nikon D600 is the better choice.
First, the D600 offers a 100% viewfinder, the 6D provides only 97%.
Furthermore, Nikon's camera is ready more quickly, both after switching, as well as in regard to the triggering delay.
The D600 offers in the continuous shooting mode, a picture is worth a second.
Nikon AF module provides 39 measurement fields, including 9 cross-type sensors. The Canon 6D, however, only has 11 areas, of which only 1 cross-type sensor.
The Nikon has a built-in flash, which can be used as a master to trigger external flash units. The 6D has no internal flash.
Color depth, dynamic range and low-light performance of the D600 are superior loud public laboratory tests of the Canon.
Finally, the D600 costs currently around 200 less than the 6D.
5. Concluding remarks
-------------------------------
The image quality offered by a camera usually comes only in conjunction with appropriate lenses to wear. Therefore Plan when you buy one that you will be paying for a new lens rarely below the 300, if you want to exhaust the possibilities of the D600, except perhaps at standard fixed focal lengths -. The Nikkor 50mm 1.8 g for example is an excellent companion and best to get started suited to photography - It surpasses even the much more expensive 50mm 1.4g.
Invest when others, more favorable cameras also meet your needs, dear. In good lenses, as in an expensive housing The picture quality achieved will give you right.
Finally, perhaps the most important argument when buying a camera:
If you will not sit well in your hand or you can not make friends with the operation itself, perhaps because you are used to other, try other cameras.
Because first and foremost to a camera not the photographer when taking pictures in the way.
However, if you have been encouraged by this review, then you take up without hesitation, because the Nikon D600 is in my opinion the best thing you can buy below the D800 for money.
