I have the Akasa AK-ICR-17 now for about a month in operation. I have long looked for alternatives, but ultimately not found, which was according to the reviews without problems. Okay, so I bought this model because of the variety of functions (2 times USB 3.0, card reader with USB 3.0, 3 times USB 2.0, e-SATA). The installation was relatively simple, but you should look at before even know if and where you have the necessary connections to the motherboard. The connecting cables to the unit are sufficiently long, power supply (Y-adapter) is attending. Not nice - but no showstopper - is that you need an external USB 3.0 port of the computer to connect the card reader, what you lead out the USB cable from the computer and einstöpselt into one of the USB 3.0 ports on the back of the computer , Thus one has thus gained de facto only an additional USB 3.0 port. All other connections are made internally to the mainboard. Built-in, turned on, and - card reader can not. The machine was broken. On the website of Akasa, there was no real help. Thanks Amazon of exchange but was easily the second device works.
The build quality is not great, but ok. USB Function 2.0 and 3.0 is fine, speed as expected. When I use only SD card reader and Micro-SD, also works. However, I was hoping for higher transfer rates compared to USB 2.0 Card Reader (Hama), but so far I can not tell. I usually decide to broadcast photos or MP3 songs, so many files 3-12 MB size. But I have not taken any specific experiments, what it could be.
Conclusion: I have erworbden the unit for about twenty-five Euros, but it's ok. Maybe I would next time buy another model. For the price currently required but would massively annoyed.
