Among the new items:
Floor: Hardly anyone who knows them from other bands or live performances already, presents its qualities in question. The hat was on the box, and is one of the most versatile singers that I know. Just why they may not show here? On this album they sure deliver solid performance, but it was given away a lot of potential. Annoying.
Troy: I liked his guest appearances on the previous albums, I was very pleased when I learned that he is a permanent member. He's doing well here, but even here he can not add songs to the magic, as in "The Islander" or "I Want My Tears Back" for example, have succeeded. Too bad.
Kai (Jukka-spare): With him the same applies as with floor. There is really nothing to complain about, but the man may yet so much more. Why should he not occasionally show this? Again a wasted potential.
With so much potential and verschenktem enormously high expectations I was very disappointed after the first hearing. I thought maybe the board needs to do a couple of runs to ignite properly. That nice to hear but has not worked. On the contrary, even if me there until some brilliant moments were aware I was overall rather annoyed and bored.
The reason is for me mainly in the metal share. This is in the present quality just too big, and I say this precisely because I mostly listen to metal. Sounds strange, but is true. The guitar work is just completely uninspired and boring. The riffs you have already heard a thousand times as metalheads and heard a thousand times better and more original riffs especially. If one to not think of anything, then why not have the courage, it simply omit? Fearing that too many fans would complain because of too little metal? So I would have preferred a good pop / folk / symphonic rock / WHATEVER album. Then the really good other ingredients (orchestra and synths) would better come to bear.
What also bothers me personally is the drivel. In "Song of Myself" I already went to the nerves, which is why I also only reinziehen me the instrumental version. On EFMB this style funds was used more often.
So enough gemecktert, especially since some criticisms are clearly purely subjective sensations (Geschmacksverirrungen?) From me.
I want neither increases nor advise against buying this album. Just this: If your from the previous albums (like me) waiting thrilled then there is no guarantee that you will like also EFMB. So better check it before.
