It was here and is unique. The nature of their interpretations made foreign compositions on this disc already completely own pieces, looking at herself in the complex Zeppelin'schen complete works just on any single note as acting foreign compositions.
For this, the unique dynamics and dramaturgy of the album - the carrot and stick, lascivious laid back attitude meets aggression, heartbreak coupled with anger and a morbid, subliminal humor, a few last song fragments, melodies and choruses from the typical soundscape of dying 60s as a starting block for the dawn of the blue-soaked, heavy, progressive hard rock of the 70s. Disrespectful new and remodel the foreign compositions in here already boundless confidence in their (existing) musical potency. These are not "Tribute" -Verbeugungen but Statements. The Light and playfulness of the typical 60s pop rock merges here with the black melancholy of the blues and an authentic heavy rock heaviness, the "leaden" is, but not yet "metallic" within the meaning of demonstrative hardened Escapism the later Heavy Metal with all its lack of humor and the often unspeakably Drögen kitschy (false) pathos.
The whole thing put into musical ideas and arrangements for some band would kill today.
As all this were not enough, the totally unique mysticism of later, sweeping compositions indicated at the latest with the atmosphere and the guitar work in "Dazed ..." which makes the music of Zeppelin so completely unique to this day (Jimmy Page's future fascination with the satanic doctrine of a Loge and Aleister Crowley is already here comprehensible).
My experience with the music Led Zeppelin, though, is that the whole grandiose genius of this band and their work only with age and life experience of the consumer (in this case: I) unfolds.
With 14 to 17 LedZep fit most with hard rocking crushers like "Communication Breakdown" or "Whole Lotta Love" in my musical Jung-rebel cosmos. The ton, completely drugged power of "Dazed and Confused" (in the live interpretation of "The Song Remaines The Same" soundtrack ") opened up my mid-20s, and today - with mid-40s - I'm from the oeuvre of this unique band still, more and more and again completely fascinated, and personally, however, the "Physical Graffiti" -Doppelabum now impregnable and lonely is for me at the top of all the albums.
In addition to the knowledge of the musical oeuvre of the Beatles, Stones, a Hendrix, Deep Puples, Black Sabbath's and Yes' absolutely essential if you love (hard) rock music and is interested in their Urspünge and early moments.
