The title Life's a show of now the second album of the band and Martin James hints at something. Since most of the 12 songs on this CD can be no doubt that bands must be received under contract with major labels, in this case, Universal, compromises. While the self-titled and self-produced, first album of Scottish singer / songwriter duo is musically settled rather in the Folk range, Life's a show moves more in the direction of pop songs than the previously published by them. To hear this is among other things to the arrangements and the general sound of each title, which could be due to Martin and James wrote only two songs on this album fully self contained. Nevertheless, their honest and profound lyrics were also obtained this time, telling stories that versatile. So also the first single Matilda. The catchy chorus of the chorus invites you to sing along and demonstrated at the same time as this album was produced, namely to and approachable for the masses themselves. Minimal audible this is also in, for Martin and James so typical, acoustic songs. Fortunately, they kept even with their unmistakable harmonies. Responsible for the relatively new but otherwise sound producer Tobias Kuhn. He previously worked among others with Leslie Clio and Adel Tawil, known by I + I, together. Accordingly, the more pop and smoother sound was probably to be expected. Despite all the criticisms, the album is quite recommendable for fans of acoustic and folk music. Everything is Martin and James distinguished presence and still is their status of thoughtful and harmonious duo musicians meet. Especially at concerts prove Martin and James still their musical skills, which, convinced without the ausproduzierten sound with a passion for emotional music. Whether this album can finally create in their homeland, the United Kingdom, a cult following them, they own in her adopted home of Berlin and throughout Germany already, will be seen over time.
