No Payne, No Fun

Eight years after Part 2 is now the long-awaited sequel Max Payne 3 appeared.
Max is a broken ex-cop who mainly feeds on alcohol and pills.
His wife and child are dead. He earns his living as a bodyguard for the wife of real estate mogul in Sao Paulo.
There seems to be a peaceful job, but surprise, where Max is, the action is not far.
The wife is kidnapped and Max has only one goal: live to bring you back.
And so fights and shoots the player by approximately 10 - 13 hours long, solo campaign, one can hardly room to breathe.
The locations are varied. So you fight first by Sao Paulo, only to end up in New York and Panama.

Max Payne 3 is pure action. That is no mystery or climbing tasks. If you have "cleaned" a space to get to the next location and the action starts again.
The heart of the game is the one already used, so-called "bullet-time" in the predecessors. When done Gangster, a display on the right bottom of the screen fills. Once this is at least partially filled up, you can slow down the game and the villains do particularly stylish.
This makes the game even cooler.
The game flows seamlessly from play in cutscenes that drive the, fairly complex act. The cutscenes are sometimes quite long and have their special, very unique look.
Graphics and sound are to be classified in the upper part.
What I really like is that you can destroy the environment partially. The screwed the already very dense atmosphere again upwards.
The control is quite complex. Nevertheless they have been internalized soon.
The difficulty is not without. I think I can call myself an average player.
But on normal and with mild sighting I'm very often died, which is not a disadvantage, because so the game is a nice challenge.
Can be disabled by targeting aid entirely and play on hard or hardcore, then the game is safe even for the professionals a hard nut.

The game also has a very extensive multiplayer. And although the game only now officially released in Europe, had in recent days on the servers already a lot going on.
In addition to normal Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch variants there are also more specialized modes like Gang Wars and Payne Killer.
The multiplayer has surprised me in terms of scope and modes until now positive.
If you durchhat the singleplayer, you can also activate Solo other modes like Score Attack and New York Minute. So Max Payne 3 is a really nice, round action package.

But of course, the game has its negative sides.
The control feels partly something hakelig and, there is only action, action, action by tube levels.
Explore yourself you hardly anything. One person likes something, the other not. A little more variety would have been nice but.

Conclusion:
Max Payne 3 keeps its promises and is a worthy successor. What else I would not have expected from the Hitschmiede Rockstar.
Graphics and sound are very good and the atmosphere is particularly thanks to the charismatic leading man, very dense.
Action Heart what you want more.
If it were, I would give 4 1/2 stars. But I'm in a good mood today, so there's the full number of stars. ;-)
One more thing: The game is extremely violent and not for children. The "Bullet-Cam" shows mercilessly where you hit the opponent. That's partly not for the faint hearted.
The cutscenes are relentlessly set the scene.
