Not compatible with the basic game made of wood!

Since my son has reached the age Catan, the game was finally brought after many years in the past month once again out of the closet. In times of xbox360 and PS3, the settlers have not lost their charm and also my son is excited about this. A nice Christmas present in the form of the two settlers extensions (sailors and Cities & Knights) was thus found quickly.

Yesterday then -As always occurred vorbildliche- delivery from Amazon. But what I found out?!? The two games are extensions -Why not whatsoever- compatible with our basic game of wood, tells me the back of the cardboard!
"I have read about some in the product description?" was my first thought ... No, I did not! Not a word is mentioned that the extensions do not let them play with the wooden version.

So what to do? A quick glance at the calendar tells me that we have the December 20 today and that it could be a nerve-racking task, if I send back the two extensions now, I'm thinking about a new gift and me again to the pre-Christmas fray throw ...

OK, the Bench I will have to throw anyway to get the basic version made of plastic ...

As has apparently not changed at the game principle but a different kind of game material is responsible for the incompatibility, I assume that the manufacturer thereby once again like to make a few extra euros. For this rip-off and for me the worries I forgive 1 point !!!

Ps: Settlers of Catan base game (1998) deliver the highest bidder ...

ADDENDUM 1:
The friendly customer service of the cosmos has promptly responded to my complaint. It is possible to get directly from the publishers free a framework of Seefeld. So then, the extension with the old edition is playable.

ADDENDUM 2:
Unlike the Seafarers expansion -for which I have- I really have liked a slightly larger extent with the Cities & Knights expansion fully satisfied. New game elements such as the defense of the island against the barbarians, or a 5-step expansion of the cities bring enough variety to the game. By-called urban expansion also come a variety of new development cards are used and also the cities themselves can now be provided with ramparts and expand to a further stage to metropolises.
Not to be forgotten is the dealer. This is -as already put the Raiders in Basisspiel- on the resource fields, but brings a positive effect, because this raw material is now available in a 2: 1 can be exchanged with the bank (provided you have in the immediate vicinity of a settlement or city).

For the good and quick support of the cosmos and the great playability is now earned 5 stars from me. Who plays with the idea to add itself only an extension to the settlers, which I would definitely recommend this here. It provides, in my opinion the best price / performance ratio!
