+ Super fast positioning after switching
+ Accurate GPS positioning (similar to Oregon Series)
+ Very intuitive menu control, which makes a very quick jump from function to function (in my opinion, the menu control not be better with a keyboard unit)
+ Top-display, which can be read at any time without problems even without lighting outdoors
+ ME successful support of PQs (GPX files)
+ Support for multi-caches (from beta FW 2:44)
+ Automatic entry of found caches and waypoints in the internal calendar (was known in the Oregon-series "Lost")
+ Feel is quite successful, with me not (!) Creaking housing, buttons with good tactile feedback
- Acquisition of manual Waypoints is long and tedious
- Acquisition of comments is virtually unusable because far too cumbersome
- Incorrect translation of menus available in German
- High Power Consumption
- Poor documentation
- No Wherigo player
- High price
The latest beta firmware update (2:44) brought significant improvements already and leads to the assumption that Garmin is trying to match the capabilities of Oregon and GPSMAP series. In direct comparison test with the Oregon 450 the GPSMAP 62st has promised me much better. But perhaps we should wait for the next offical firmware update before buying.
Addendum: I recommend everyone interested the reviews to the device to read ww.geocaching.com. There are already about 100 amounts, the unit currently has 4 of 5 stars.
