We all have our sources of inspiration from which we draw; and it was a wise man who once noted that there is nothing new under the sun. Can, should you have to reinvent the wheel every day? No of course not. If I even designing designs for T-shirts offered with my designs, I reach again and again also issues that someone else has already paid.
My "Schrödinger's Cat" shirt is a good example: The idea for a "Wanted Dead and Alive" shirt gave it even before I have designed an appropriate shirt, and, no, she is not mine. That I have used them, has a fairly simple reason: A dear friend had a draft of liked. Shirts with graphical transformations of the idea, she said at the time, give it in abundance though, really like her would, however none of them. So I fired up the drawing software in the sequence and tried me on a draft. The process from the first draft to the finished drawing is so far typical of me, as the first litter was by no means the last - I have long honed my design until I was satisfied with it. The girlfriend was the result right away very impressed, a T-shirt has ordered "Schrödinger cat" print with my - and that's it. I thought at the time, anyway.
That the motive is my best-selling would moult over time to, I would never have dreamed back then. Even my cat would make the leap into the Amazon range, I could not have imagined.
Shirts with "Wanted - Schrödinger's Cat" had as I said, given it already. A certain trick in the graphical presentation, which is very typical of my personal style, I had however not seen in any other design. Only subsequently elsewhere little by little "Wanted" designs surfaced us at Amazon, which, I believe, are inspired by my design. Some of the similar designs lean more my style than others, and some of them I find really appealing. And when they act in response to me, then that comes certainly no coincidence. It is rather that in the draft in question clearly recognizable work is incorporated. Someone time, brains and passion invested. Effort has been given. Difficulty namely, an already tilled field wrest a new plant.
In this I see the basic, fundamental difference to the original fast and sometimes just modeled variation: Someone has either tried an existing idea wrest a new page or to improve an existing version of something. I think that's not libelous - here and on other marketplaces that have many motives, the face of which I think: Man, that one could make but really nice. Definitely found in my range of one or another motive candidate, someone could make with more talent and skill than they are to me in the cradle, even funnier, more beautiful, "round", as I can. Safe is also in my "Do not call me architect!" - Idea still music or room for improvement. I know that perfectly well, because my original, which has stood for the here offered Shirt Godfather, without that I would have been invited to the baptism, the result of long employment. And even in this case applies: Mien finished design is not the first draft, but only the (so far) last in a series of experiments, which have seen the light of day in the study of the topic. And the spark for the design was not about a similar motif from someone else spring, but the personal contact and dialogue with various engineers, in the course of which I eventually asked myself the question: How is it would probably look like the Fun Shirt, of the construction engineers and aspiring engineers to be sprichen feel? If you want, you can call it quite Research & Development. Exactly the falls at a copy of course not, it's not necessary.
But you really have to go the hard, stony path from the initial idea about the rough sketch to finished design it? No, does not have one. If you want to use something in which another has the intellectual property, you can, for example, just ask nicely if has any objection against the usage or even a re-creation. That in this case, not even an attempt was made, is a pity.
Too bad, I also think that the opportunity has not been used, does not significantly improve an existing design. As I said, I bet in my idea is creative potential. That which has not been lifted, it may actually be only one reason, and is in my opinion: The motivation has not gelautet to lie a better design, but a someone else's idea developed as quickly and without much hassle for yourself to make commercially viable. This is then safe in the sense of agency, but I do not think it is within the scope of clientele. With my clients I make in any event time and again that they have a very safe and unerring sense and an unerring eye for motives that are the result of the effort around the best creative result - which is plagiarized uncreative or hingeschludert with unkindness recognizable, so my impression rarely sells.
I'll close my observations therefore just a small thank you: Thank you to all the fans of funny t-shirts, which have repeatedly decided over the years in favor of a draft from me. A few euros migrate that with each purchase into my pocket, I am glad you; at least as much but am glad of encouragement for the creative power that I put in my T-shirt designs - I am happy sincere when my ideas and motifs that are it arrive well.
