I've bought the model SE50 in black (with the time) for my bathroom, I am happy to listen to the radio or to access my MP3 collection on my Smartphone, I decide to broadcast on the radio via Bluetooth. Both works well! Also, the AUX input works, but these will not be used. However, the engineers did not mind when designing the SE50 finish what I will describe below: Once you have connected the radio via the included AC adapter to the power supply, the device is directly in Bluetooth mode and waits for you (or similar) with the device connects his smartphone. This works fine. The clock shows the SE50 12:00 waiting to be set manually the first time what is done quickly. Using the Source button you can now switch between modes BLUETOOTH / RADIO / AUX. Another mode, such as Standby something does not exist. If you switch the device now with the mounted slide switch on the back of it is completely disconnected from the mains or from the AC adapter. This means that the clock must be reset again the next time. Annoying! A back-up battery, as is present in any good alarm clock, there is not. I took the liberty, the power consumption of the device to Measure: When switched on (BT, Radio, AUX), thus also with display of time, the power consumption about 4 watts (power supply included.). This results in annual electricity cost of about 9, - Euro. If you switch the unit on the back off, but leaves the plug power supply into the wall socket, the power consumption is only about 1 Watt (which I think is acceptable). I also have the power measurement with loud music playback and mute condition (no music signal) measured: The difference is approximately 0.1 watts. The internal amplifier thus supplies the speaker with 0.1 watts (ie 100 milliwatts), but for an upscale room volume is quite sufficient. The description of the manufacturer Powerful 2 x 15 W stereo hi-fi speakers can therefore be seen as a marketing ploy. It may be that the speakers through an electrical load of 15 watts, they are operated with a fraction of it. For sound: For the size of the SE50 sound makes a good impression, Bass can not be expected, of course. I suspect that this device up to 150 Hz comes down. The height could be a bit lively, up missing a little. But still quite enough to listen to music, podcasts or news. For radio: Strong stations (something L1VE) are receiving noise-free, weak stations (with me DLF) are being too noisy, what I find disturbing. The readjustment of the antenna can possibly remedy the noise. The device can only receive FM. I welcome: The multilingual manual is very well written and easy to understand (which is not self-evident in the price range!). The housing with display makes an overall impression of high quality and is made entirely of plastic. A cable (Klinke3,5 mm / 3.5 mm jack) is also included.
Conclusion: I would have liked that the device has a standby mode in which only the clock is displayed, all other functions are disabled but. Also I would have wished that the time is not lost if the input power. The receiving part of the radio could be a bit better. For this reason, I prefer from two stars, will, however, retain the SE50 and simply no longer pay attention to the time, when I will make this new not always.
