It seems primarily to affect ASUS notebooks and so also me (X53 SV).
Unfortunately, I also received a version of this adapter without the DIP switch, with which you can disable Manufacturing Diagnostics Mode to and so I had no choice but to screw the adapter housing, rauszunehmen the small board and disable the PIN ominous.
How to read in a comment on a review (and the net) already, the following step is required:
If you have opened the case and removed the board, then they are grown so imagine that you look from the inside to the outer terminal. This refers to the connection that connects the adapter housing with the notebook (not the internal port to which the hard drive is connected).
When you hold the board so imagine that the connection that goes to the outside is on the left (and the port, which consequently goes to the hard drive on the right), then you have the outer terminal (ie the on the left), the contact be severed to the third PIN from the right.
I used a small, narrow screwdriver to pull out the pin from the rear of the terminal.
One could of course start the fine soldering iron, but I was too lazy.
Alternatively, the PIN and the SATA connector on the other side with handle cut insulating / adhesive tape, cover.
Since then I've done that, the adapter is functioning properly and the notebook goes down again properly.
There is no DIP switch and thus handicrafts are necessary, the product obtained by me only 4 stars.
Would not that, I would give full 5 because otherwise the part fits perfectly into the well and also takes the original bezel on so perfect that it looks externally no difference.
To those who wonder / complain that there are no screws to fix the hard drive are:
But yet the rubber nipples are included!
They are inserted into the screw holes of the hard disk / SSD and then the hard disk has the adapter housing very good grip and transmits the vibrations not on the frame.
Who the gap between disk and black plastic spacer is too large, the simple stuffs a thin strip of rubber, the remains of described nipples between left and the hard drive fits perfectly without play under!
