The first thing I noticed was that it is relatively difficult. If the housing is not filled with lead (which I do not go out), so should stable materials have been installed. But first things first ...
The Solis Scala has a conical grinder made of steel. The grind can be adjusted by turning the bean container; a scale helps to reproduce settings once found again. To what extent would reach the finest setting for Espresso, I have not tested and I can not therefore judge. However, most reviewers here represented the view that the Solis Scala does not grind for espresso coffee machines fine enough. Of course, should be that the grinding degree may only be adjusted when bean container is empty or the grinder is running either. A regulation in the tank is full and stationary grinder can both this and the adjustment damaging, because you have to crush the beans that are located in the mill, the quasi Einstellversuch.
The 250g comprehensive bean container and the powder collecting container are from Plasik. In the latter, I think that because of the static charge for improvement. As other reviewers have already pointed out this problem and possible solutions, I will not go into it - except for the fact that I still thought haunts to the production of a glass or metal container in the head, should me the charge sometime sufficient annoy. At the moment, the charge does not yet disturbing, because I always grind coffee for only about 3 to 6 cups.
For the bean container I would have wished that he could have a hand a aroma-tight lid and on the other hand would be closed before starting the grinder. So you have the container unfortunately only empty before you can remove it for cleaning the grinder.
The machine does not have a separate on / off switch, this is combined with the mechanical governor for grinding. The controller works smoothly; and the mill will begin its work immediately after the controller has been moved away from the "0" position. Caution - the regulator has in said "0" and when "10" depending on a stop. To prevent damage to the controller, it may not be moved beyond those two endpoints. The power cord can be stored in specially enem its compartment under the machine.
The grinding of the beans is done very smoothly and pleasantly quiet. I therefore believe that I need have no qualms that even in the morning 4:30 to use Solis Scala, before I go to work. Moreover, it looks to me as if the grinder run pretty slow. That's good, because it does not heat the beans and "nachgeröstet" and therefore the flavor is not altered.
All in all I give the Solis Scala like 4 stars and they can in good conscience to anyone who does not just want to fill a Siebträgermaschine with the coffee powder, recommended. It is still affordable, easy to use and provides an absolutely convincing grinding result from.
