Very very disappointed ... So I'm a fan of the classic edition of the Lonely Planet guides, as this "Essential" is absolutely bewildering to the traveler / backpacker accustomed to the original edition: glossy color photos, but especially bcp blah and danecdotes useless !! And very little usable information. Not to mention that this guide "concentrate Thailand" reduced nationwide in Bangkok, a little north, and especially the islands. By buying this guide (only) 400 pages, I thought malléger facing the 800 pages of the classic version (but printed on Bible paper). In fact, it is almost as heavy. In the end I'm hardly served to me impossible to find useful information in the middle of a layout "that puts in full view" but forget to be practical (it's mostly what are asked for this type of guide). If you want color photos, the pretty paper and long text to read, head to the Michelin Green Guide. Oblige this edition (like the French version is still rotten, prefer him English Version)
