The Great Mass (Ltd.Edition Incl.Dvd) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Septic Flesh incorporate symphonic elements into their progressively tinged death metal. They do a lot of skillful than some industry peers and make up where left off with Dimmu Borgir Abrahadabra. The classical elements and choirs are by no means intended as a decorative accessory, but an integral part of each composition. My favorites: "The Vampire from Nazareth", "A Great Mass of Death", "Pyramid God" and not least "Mad Architect".
As in the case of Dimmu Borgir now, the question arises in Septic Flesh. What follows such a masterpiece? The answer can only be: back to the roots. Another album of this kind must not fail necessarily bad, but leads to stagnation, and that is long short about the death of every band.
An extra praise goes to the artwork concept and the enclosed DVD. Finally a Making Of report with artistic value, which is boring for a minute. The mix of documentary and avant-garde (Art) elements could serve other bands as a template for future inserts. Making Ofs with grinning musicians in the studio brand "Hey, we had the idea of doing this and that" there is more than enough.
All in all: five points earned.
