A new Joe Cocker album - good. A new tour - even better. And then the announcement, there is the "Hard Knocks" album with live tracks and a live DVD. Sensational. New live material from Joe Cocker, the first since the small club tour in 2002.
Six live tracks on the CD, and five on the DVD. That was all? Cocker and band sound really excellent, the new songs are tight and crisp over, much better even than in the studio. The DVD was recorded in October 2010 in Paris, the sound is clear and precise, exerts great pressure. And by the way it makes genuine humor, the old master again watch the snap of the fingers. And after 20 minutes of fun is over now again.
So I ask myself: Why do not more? So why not a whole Livd CD / DVD? Too bad Joe is not just younger, who knows when he will bless us again with a tour. And with live releases, the Briton has always been more restrained and the present material is, I want it even call it that, with the best since 89'er live album.
If indeed so nothing more be pushed from the Tour on DVD / BluRay, the present Special Edition is more than worth their money!
