Here now summarized the points that are struck me positively or negatively in the daily handling of WP12T455:
Plus points:
+ Looks pretty and streamlined
+ Chic control panel and LED display, many programs and settings
+ Shows the remaining washing time and the program flow to
+ Wash temperature in 10-degree steps adjustable
+ Reload function: you can interrupt the program and additionally reinlegen linen (or the lack of detergent container reinsert)
+ Programmable, you can start the wash by up to 24 hours delay (either full hours, or 10-24 minutes)
Bad points:
- When you are done washing, dripping when opening the lid of water in the drum (see above)
- Depth 65 cm, which is quite a lot. It had to be cut away slightly from the wall, so that the washing machine fitted in its intended niche.
- The machine does not strike me just quietly, at least as loud as the 15-year-old who broke recently
- After pressing the Stop button and after the end of the washing program, it takes an eternity until the cover is released
In addition, there are a few details:
Setting the temperature:
A must-criterion was the temperature control for me. I for reasons of hygiene often want to wash laundry at more than 60 degrees or need, but not necessarily always cooking temperature is necessary, I wanted to have the opportunity to select the temperature individually. In the old machine that was not present problems, I was able to adjust using the knob alleTemperaturen infinitely between 0 and 95 degrees. Many of today's machines can only four stages, namely, 30, 40, 60 and 95 degrees. (Electronic control not only has advantages. In any case, not when the designers needlessly rigid program restrictions.) The WP12T455 allowed at least an additional 20, 50, 70 and 80 degrees.
Interrupt the washing program and add washing:
A reload is present, I was also important. It often happens that I forget a piece of laundry. Or intentionally less long will mitwaschen because it is sensitive material. Then it is convenient if I can interrupt the current program and fooled wash afterwards. Actually, I thought that this is possible at all top loaders. But according to a statement of the specialty store is that only a few machines. Many other washing machines are said after launching the program lock the lid and release only at the end.
Floor space / depth:
The washing machine requires a lot of space in depth. The housing of the machine itself is indeed measured at the side, depth less than 60 cm. With the hoses behind the rear wall and the curvature of the front is then actually comes to a footprint of just 65 cm. Many comparable washing machines require less. With a little thought you could have built the machine more intelligent. On my old machine (also from Siemens) the hoses were led away by a recess at the rear bottom of the machine to the side and do not need extra space.
Size and position of the detergent container:
The accommodation of the detergent container in the lid, its chunky design and the non-possibility to omit him, makes handling somewhat cumbersome (see above). Unfortunately, this design appears to be consistent with many current top loaders. The machines Bauknecht and Constructa, I could look at me in the store were designed the same way. A machine of AEG made it better, here the detergent container was integrated into the housing, behind the drum. But had only a rigid temperature control with 4 levels, and therefore out of the question.
Audible noise:
The WP12T455 is not exactly quiet. When washing you can hear them a room on, during spinning on the floor below. Not really a great disappointment, but there are quieter washers today.
Had I not respected it when buying, thought it was not important because the machine is in the bathroom.
identical models (?):
The WP12T455 and WP12T495 seem to me to be identical by comparison of all technical data. The differences found are that on the (i. A. expensive) WP12T495 the sign "class IQ590" sticks, on the other hand, only WP12T455 "IQ500" (without class). In addition, one or two hot wash programs differ.
Conclusion:
Overall, nice, washes well, although in a few small things in the handling of improvement.
Many details can be when should watch at the store do not realize, not even the technical data not found, they were only noticed in practical use.
If I compare with the previous two machines (a used-selling no-name unit of about 1980 and a Siemens from circa 1998): today's washing machines are packed with a lot of electronics, have more buttons and the user programs and take many decisions from (whether like it or not). But the operation has improved somewhat, some even worsened.
