Okay, some negatives anyway

Tired of my old Packard Bell notebook of just 1 year but maddeningly slow (only 1GB of RAM for Windows 7, this explains it), I looked a little livelier device. I mainly use the Internet browser, I am already using chromium and its services, I used the cloud, I like to keep a notebook format with a real keyboard, and I use my device to my house where the WiFi is permanently accessible.

My choice was focused on chromebook, and I do not regret it. Extremely fluid navigation, even when multiple tabs its launched, taking the environment easy hand to one that is already used to chrome.

The chromebook is not far from the 5 stars, but ...

1 / Its keyboard (which is in QWERTY) request an adjustment period: no touch "delete" (we made it), no right-click (this requires tapping with two fingers on the touchpad, that we made it too) and especially no shift key (replaced by a key research and access to the menu), this last point is rather painful to type long series of numbers.

Well obviously, for third party software that does not work, since we can not install. But this, if we take the time to read the information and opinions, we are sufficiently warned! I ordered the chromebook in knowingly.

But some blind Google applications (including games) are not available when they refer to pages requiring the launch of a setup program: that I was not expecting it, I would have thought the available store would reflect the environment. And there is not much in French ... Nothing too serious in my case, since ultimately it is not my use.

Still, 1 star less for the lack of shift key on the keyboard for the blind apps displayed although not compatible.

2 / When I wanted to start my subscription 100GB free for 2 years on Google Drive, it was more complicated. To activate the subscription, the procedure is simple: I right click on an image (by tapping with two fingers) to "save as", I selected "Google Drive" and I am automatically directed to a page where I am invited to check eligibility my device to this storage offering. And then disappointment: I got a message saying that my camera was not eligible. I turned off and on the unit to reset the connection, activate the offer retried at least 4 or 5 times, each time the same failure. I ended up making me a reason, my device is not compatible. Not cool.

So I began to write my opinion on Amazon, and at the time of bitching about the ineligibility of the camera with the offer of 100 GB of storage, I check one last time ... And then a miracle, it works. The 100 GB offer is finally selected. After how testing leading each time to the same negative message? And if I had not tried it yet again ???

The real downside is the complexity of the procedure to print: no direct printing printer via USB connection, you have to use another PC to declare the printer on google account. The printer should be ability to connect directly to the internet via a wireless connection box (the list is short but I'm lucky, mine is one of them). Otherwise you must keep the other PC lit to keep the printer accessible. Well I was warned, but I still think it remains the big downside of the system.

A second star less for the failures of the activation of the 100 GB drive and google for not recognizing the printer via USB.

Even so, again, I do not regret my purchase: it is a good product, well suited to my habits of use. My husband keeps me borrow it. Its 7-inch EeePC old has just given up the ghost, we will order a second Samsung for chromebook he also hers.
