I can of Vorrezension of 12 October 2013 Only Connect (Pavarotti's birthday). For more than 20 years and I adore hear Luciano Pavarotti and you can tell his voice is "daily guest in our house." I certainly admire him not critical, but I do not belong to the many music lovers and "Hair breakers" whose passion is always happy to find a "fly in the ointment": he sang too long one, he has others that "lofty Kust betrayed" and too much money for his big concerts, yet another liked his crossover concerts not etc. etc. I enjoy just to hear his unique voice with the unmistakable timbre. In these two CD's you get a good idea of the more than 40 year career of this exceptional tenor. In the 1961 recording of Che Gelida Manina can already hear the foundations and in the 1972 recording of the same aria (this complete recording of La Bohème under von Karajan is a real century recording) you can admire what the young singer has learned in 10 years. As long as he could keep his voice shows that he belonged to a generation of singers, which was still up reasonable and could not wait with heavy rollers that have damaged her voice at a young age. A sad example in our time is the marvelous Rolando Villazon, whose career if he does so on, will not last long, because the existing precious voting material suffers easily under constant overwork. All in all, the two CD's for a beginner a good overview of the career of the incomparable Luciano Pavarotti. But there is much more material that secure a 2nd edition of the "50 Greatest" in it.
