As I read in previous reviews, I would like to comment briefly on two points:
First: No VPS and no ShowView: I, for my part, have never needed this frippery, the VHS recorder, which I had before, VPS had - I've never needed. In addition, one can also times previously informed before so buys a device.
Second, the power-hungry LED display: Has the VR550 not, sorry. The VR 550 has an LCD display, which is what everyone has a clock radio with digital readout. And considering how long do the batteries in such devices, one can hardly speak of an energy guzzler.
I also find it quite pleasant, next to my TV to see the time, not pushy but always bright legible.
So ... now back to your device: Top image quality, top sound quality, as far as one can expect from a VHS recorder to the 100 Euros just that.
Very sad, I also think the fact that Philips was a cheapskate, the VR550 to spendieren an RCA output for connection to the hi-fi system. Fortunately I can tinker a bit and have simply modified the scart cable accordingly. Maybe there's also appropriate cable, pre in the store?
For 100 euros you get a very solid VHS recorder with excellent picture and sound quality, but a purist equipment. Who can do without trinkets and mica, is the right place the Philips VR 550.
