The mid-60s had begun its triumphal march against the American western of spaghetti westerns. With the usual clichés of Hollywood now had not even (apparently) win a flower pot. But not the Italians had dusted the Western. No, it was Hollywood itself: "The Magnificent Seven; The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Man From Laramie; Veracruz" are just a few strips from the American repertoire, which pointed in a new direction. Even the biggest Western of all time "The Searchers" (with John Wayne) deserves a special mention here. He has remained the benchmark until today. "The Sons of Katie Elder" is an exception. It is next to "El Dorado" of the last precious Western (a definition of this term is disputable; westerns like "Bad and the Ugly" or "Game me the song of Death" also highlights the genre, although they are spaghetti westerns, is - it could be so called " noble "call). The old American Western stepped up to one of the last battles against the anti-hero and beat this is excellent. Much of "Katie Elder" may perhaps be longstanding, but a partial heart-refreshing humor that aufbrandende Music Elmer Bernstein and a sovereign actor John Wayne entertain two hours excellent manner. I recommend everyone Westernfan (and anyone who would like it to be), to watch this movie.
