To go further
The last letter of her lover this is the story of two women: Jennifer and Ellie. The first lives in the 60s and is married to a powerful daffaire and taciturn man. Following a car accident she comes to ask about its existence alongside man and tries to clean up his life. But the discovery dune at the bottom of a love letter from her closets will bludgeon her doubts about what the person has been. The second, Ellie, is a modern woman for years and released in 2000. Everything could go well if it wasnt obsessed with married the man with whom she has an affair. So what should work on an article for the newspaper where she works, she will discover in the archives a letter that will lead it in a funny denquête.
These two destinies linked offer two stories which, while not totally opposed, do not mount at all affected the same way.
The first part focuses on Jennifer, this young thirty seems trapped in a marriage of propriety that brings him nothing and makes her unhappy. His meeting with Anthony, a journalist, will bring a touch of unexpected freedom and Jennifer will be at his side. Lalternance between his life after the accident and flashbacks of his history with Anthony enable intelligent progress in history and discovery continues to this story dadultère but especially of love that manages to touch me.
Yes I mean "story of love" because it is important to note that Jennifer cheats on her husband but her marriage wasnt really love but decorum and maintain its status in high society. Moreover divorce is portrayed as something impossible for a woman of the 60s (which I doubt dailleurs historically speaking, it seems Quà that time things were starting to break free and that divorce was tolerated but some doubts i).
If I stress this is all that to be able to talk Dellie. Haaa Ellie: the perfect gourdasse who loves a married man nayant no intention of leaving his wife. Ellie is larchétype the girl that makes me want to scream.
It leaves all his life aside for a man who does not love her and above all it is the cause of a adultery. So of course it could have an endearing character, a pleasant personality
Ellie's just annoying, boring, unbearable, intolerable.
And the second part with it evolves and threw the verge of throwing my Kobo in the room (which I never do by the way). But this is what this girl that completely blocks out the worst bastard universe and find it perfectly normal that he leaves his wife (who comes to have children and more) for it? (While it is clear that it quhonnêtement not love him).
Not because really, it does not call into question a moment. She finds it perfectly normal and in addition it goes ITS TIME to complain about his fate "Ohhh this is not fair I can not work, I miss him too, this is too bad that he left on vacation with his wife Pfiouuu I am too unhappy. "
You understand Laurez I think Ellie put my nerves on edge. Fortunately she eventually evolve in the last ten pages. What catches up nothing attitude from the beginning.
Apart from all that, the writing Jojo Moyes is nice and history between Jennifer and Anthony is friendly if I deadlock on historical details that turlupinent me. I just think my quEllie completely ruined my reading and I do not have all liked the parallel between yesterdays adultery, which seems tolerable, and that of today which makes me want to vomit. Yet history Jennifer / Anthony really touched my I liked and always learn more about them; even if the whole is far too predictable. Honestly i rarely read such a book sewn with white thread, everything guessed at least thirty pages before this is revealed and I found it a pity
