Only moderate success

On the packaging and processing there is initially nothing to complain about. Unwrapped, after reading the manual. Now I was a little surprised that the operating instructions in the field of possible sources of error and flash codes "reset device" for and "unit defective" were included. Better yet, you'd teach the machine to operate properly and reliably instead of giving him the same error codes on the way. Well, for just in case, why not.

The first test firing, serviced one day and the next day after thorough shave made in accordance with the instructions the first round with the unit. As a precaution, I first started at level 4, although I would rather take step 5 type. After some waiting, the device works then again. Aha! (!) After a second later forced break, I then also finished the second round, or rather, can finish.

My first impression: although in the device an active cooling device tinkers (fan installed), the unit may overheat with prolonged use at a high level and then switches off. The unit returns to Amazon for replacement with a new device. After delivery of the new device and the next applications the rating is updated ...

The device was exchanged without objection from Amazon. In the third application (completely at the highest level), there was no fault message "and thus shut-off. Depending on the zone of the heat pulse is very palpable and sometimes quite painful. But the first successes show. Where darker hair grow, there are become less, and they are growing more slowly. I admit, that I did not expect. Despite the sometimes painful procedure, there was no skin irritation.

Today the fourth round was due. The upper body flash me as recently at the highest level. Shortly before the end of the upper body, the surprise - the unit returns to the failure mode. After switching off and three minutes of rest I can go on, however. Before I begin with the legs, is one more hour break. When I look at my upper body, I'm once again disillusioned. Also, I have some time birthmarks not covered with white, but with beige Kajal (was white all). These are now flushed clear. Conclusion after four passages:
The manufacturer's warnings are well founded, the device is a lot of energy from that you can not stand sometimes. No reproach to Philips because you have to take even our own conscience, if one selects the intensity too high or not covering dark skin properly.

12 weeks before I used the appliance for the first time, since every two weeks shaved and flashed - So today for the seventh and definitely the last time.

Why?

1. result in terms of hair removal / growth prevention
Most darker hairs are as good as gone (at least for now). However, all medium blonde hair and some of the dark hair are resistant to the method. The upper body is practically free of hair, shoulders mostly. On the legs, the result does not convince. 3 stars I would give this.

2. Application / time
As described above, painless I would not call the matter. While I need for shaving of legs and upper body about half an hour (1x per week), I now shave every two weeks and need after 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours to flash. The effort is higher in time, and the hairs are not so far reduced to seven applications, as that one could dispense with the shave. For this only 2 stars.

3. Device
Even the replacement device has the problem that it goes after the hour the fault mode, or he simply shuts down completely. Only remedy is to wait until the appliance has cooled. In my eyes, not really acceptable, and certainly not for the called price.
Even my device shows now the already mentioned elsewhere gray-black, punctate staining at the light exit window.
Moreover, and this I find really bad, the unit has a line-shaped gray discoloration between the light emission window and the skin sensor window. There are also the white plastic has begun to slightly deform. This causes about two hours after applying red, streak-like skin irritation. Looks like about 1 cm long scratch. And at almost every place where you set up and triggered the device. I am certain extent stunned.

So, that's as far as my experience with the device. Others have obviously made better experiences. I am not convinced of the apparatus. Depreciation on two star. Mag each make a judgment itself.
