Operation:
Using the keyboard is possible only on a hard, smooth surface. Lap You can not work with it. The cover can be folded in two directions, is held in place magnetically, and thus forms the support for the tablet. A bar with five gilded spring contacts and two guide tabs takes up the tablet and also considers it magnetically. It does not lock and can easily remove it upwards. In both folding directions of the same aperture angle of approximately 109 °, for me arises the biggest shortcoming of this design. The tablet is too steep for me. Since the image of the TrekStor SurfTab Wintron faded quickly when not vertical insight, I tried at work always to duck something quickly led to cramps. With a simple but ingenious design, I have increased the opening angle to about 130 °, which is now at the desk I entered the work is possible.
Keyboard:
The keys have a grid of 16.5mm (standard 19mm) and a good stroke. The function keys F1 through F12 are equipped with functions such as mute, soft and loud, "Settings", but also "Pos1" and "End" doubly occupied. To select the normal function, they must be pressed together with the Fn key. Just to the left of the spacebar are a control key and a Windows key and instead of a pop-up menu button is to the right of "Alt Gr" a button to disable and enable the touchpad.
Touchpad:
The touchpad responds well and allows a precise work on the desktop, just as you would expect from a netbook. It supports two-finger gestures for scrolling and zooming.
Weight:
My Keyboard weighs 343g. Together with my SurfTab 666g incl. MicroSD card I come to a total weight of just over one kilogram.
Material:
The material designated as artificial leather is a textile imitation suede, which although looks classy, but magically attracts dust and dirt. It's just a matter of time before it will have turned into a fat leather.
Packing:
The keyboard is as elaborately packaged as the tablet.
Conclusion:
After the first impression I have the keyboard cleaned and packed quickly, with the intention to return there. On the one hand because of the sensitive material, but mainly because of the unusable for me opening angle. Because the Windows desktop but without keyboard and mouse / touchpad is hard to use and the purchase of a Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad and a pocket is similarly expensive, I unpacked it again and gave him a second chance. After solving the problem with the angle I'm now quite happy, but may assign no more than three stars.
