I compare this lens with the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 100-300.
The Panasonic is with 520 grams whopping 100 grams heavier than this one. But that's about the only downside.
The reasons for the increasingly important: built-in Image Stabilizer, a little brighter and the quality much better version.
This is not well sealed against moisture, dust and dirt have it but much more difficult to penetrate into the interior, and the zoom ring is running much smoother.
Visually, both do anything that Panasonic is after the last firmware update and optimize production, the teething problems from the start off.
Sure, at 300mm, it is a bit soft but the Olympus is there no better.
Which image stabilizer is better now remains to be seen: Meanwhile, the camera's internal stabilizers in Olympus are quite good.
So: The Olympus is a good telephoto zoom, and is no longer sold to the astronomical prices as its predecessor. Who does not Photographed in extreme environments and provides a bit, which should thus be able to work well. For me personally is the Panasonic more.
From there her actually address both lenses have earned 4 stars.
Nevertheless, I give here only 3 because the lens hood is missing. But this is absolutely necessary and the purchase more expensive the lens, so the Panasonic is cheaper.
