The reports of only modest print quality have first prevented me from acquiring the equipment. Wrongly. Have the printer and presumably the others in this series a standard pressure setting (default), so to speak, from the factory is more like an ink-saving mode. This means: Who wants to bring good quality to 80 grams Universal paper, should also set to high quality. In return, the sleep mode no longer distinguishes (for me at least) as extreme from the default settings. The colors are slightly pale and black is no longer black, but anthracite. But color profiles can also easily be adjusted in the printer menu (Mac OS 10.6.8). About the Color Adjustment menu lets you embed all ColorSync profiles. In addition, there is the color settings menu. Here can be adhoc menu items lively / natural colors set. If that's not enough, click on the Advanced Color Settings / color enhancement menu. Here you can brightness, contrast, color channels red, green, blue and Halftone Pattern change (mind you everything in the printer menu). These are more options than I have ever been found in a printer available without additional software. If you choose high quality and uses the appropriate paper, one also comes to good results. I extend the default settings for a handout, even though then on an imaging times a hairline is visible. But I save even ink. I ask for another reason rarely on high quality: The term no longer needed three, but 20-30 seconds. That takes me too long. WLAN integration without any problems (on Airport 2nd Gen.). I have the first printer connected via USB, install software from a CD-Rom and then sent to the WLAN. Very quickly done. Meanwhile, I have also updated the firmware and the scanner driver. Even without any problems.
Addendum: After a year and 2000. Print the device rewinds at me from the same mistake that many users even describe in the various forums: Black is no longer recognized. Is as follows: Regardless of whether the original or replacement cartridge if the black cartridge to run out, comes the usual Note: Ink Low, few printouts later: Change cartridge. Then the new cartridge is inserted and detected. Man confirmed the color, the machine will print on. After 15-20 Print the number goes from the front lot. The same cartridge is no longer recognized. Unplug the appliance and call technicians menu and reset device ... could care less. The cartridge must be in the trash. A new cartridge is then detected again after 15-20 Print, etc. (my firmware is the last before the update release in December 2014). So I have worn out three Black XL cartridges in three days. Brave New World of obsolescence ...?
Addendum 2: Permanently problems with quality paper 100g. Paper feed for large print jobs with 80g paper no problem. In contrast, permanent 100g jam, regardless of how much "paper care" is operated.
