First, the style is quite poor and winded. The fact that the narrator is suffering from a form of autism can explain it, but that does not make the book more readable.
And unfortunately, I find it rather misses what I suspect to be the object, that is able to put ourselves in the shoes of the main character. Which is actually quite logical, taking into account the detachment and distance associated with autism.
The story is altogether commonplace, which I imagine is voluntary, to enhance the character outside of any context "Extraordinary". But finally, one is left with an unfinished taste: history is not transcendent, the style is medium, hard to feel empathy, and not much not much to learn about autism. In short, the average level of notes in the comments in my opinion is completely overrated.
