The case is a good protection against mechanical stresses such as stone chips or falls. Likewise, of course, to water / rain. However, you can record with the housing no sharp underwater shots. Who buys the housing for diving / snorkeling, will be bitterly disappointed. For this you need either the Sony MPKAS3 housing, or the separately available flat (!!!) windscreen. On YouTube there are several underwater videos with the available here curved front lens and the flat front lens.
