My camera dealer around the corner had the EOS M with zoom kit and also the 22mm pancake in stock. So I slammed.
Image Quality Camera

I knew what to expect in about. The image quality is on a level with the 3 year old EOS 7D as well as the smaller, newer EOS APS-C cameras, after all, they use all a similar chip and the same DIGIC image processor generation. For image quality you have to say anything else, she's EOS-usual perfect. The automatic white balance Canon typical in artificial light often wrong.
Image quality lenses

Both lenses have an excellent image quality and high sharpness. The Zoom is significantly better than what Olympus or SONY mitliefern as a kit. The Zoom distorted extreme in the 18mm setting. This will be corrected automatically in JPEGs and in Adobe Lightroom v4.2 (RAW). Then nothing will be noted and you can see the Canon know how to build lenses. The lenses also work very valuable and modern as EF-S and EF lenses. Who wants to read more about the lenses can look at lensrental.com.
The adapter for EF and EF-S lenses, I have now gained initial experience. Unfortunately, the getesten (ring) USM lenses act all again one eating slower than the two EF-M STM lenses that are available for booting. The same lenses are Canon DSLRs but quickly. It is noteworthy that the focus is partially changed very quickly, but several short trips are necessary in all directions. I explain this by saying that former USM motors not slowed down fast enough and the direction can be changed. So the contrast autofocus simply needs until it is sharp. However, it is then ultimately asked as reliable or unreliable as the supplied STM zoom lens sharp. I do not have the new prime lenses with IS, such as the 24, 28 or 35 mm of 2012. Perhaps this has already Canon can make optimizations that USM lenses can be used equally for phase and contrast autofocus. Until then, everything was great - a shrunken 7D, madness. Not great, however, the autofocus. Here Canon has an autofocus implemented the lags behind the competition. OM-D? Lightning Fast autofocus. Nikon 1? Blazing fast. Canon EOS M? Acceptable with firmware 2.0.2 now. With firmware 1.x: Laaaaangsam!

A word to the menu: The touch screen is good, it just works. Unfortunately, Canon has much what one is used to from other canceled out prosumer cameras. There is no spirit level to configure few opportunities the display (each PowerShot S has since more opportunities) and also much good stuff has been omitted which could well provide the targeted audience questions.
The display is not very good in sunlight. Even the November sun has already managed that I have seen nothing more in the display. Viewfinder, the camera has not any. You can make the display brighter temporarily. This can be put on the only freely configurable key, the down arrow. But then you lose the ability to adjust the focus point quickly to the center.
Functionality:

The Canon menus were 10 years ago and modern times, the competition has a long time to catch up. Meanwhile, however, affects all but dowdy. To hide behind the Settings Custom functions is at least as bad as the nested menus at Olympus. Or is this a throwback to the DIP switches?
Modern features such as a panorama of the hand does not exist. Although I take pictures in RAW I find such (JPEG) functions very well. Expand the possibilities what can be done with a camera.
The DIGIC processor is insufficient capacity. Once you automatically corrects chromatic aberrations in the JPEGs shooting speed goes to the basement. Canon has disabled this feature therefore by default.
My Conclusion
---------
The superior image quality somewhat diminished by the cozy autofocus give me just another 5 star. The Canon is neat, but the competition is fierce.
Overhead I find that Canon has brought the camera in November 2012 on the market but only completed in July 2013. Early buyers and decades of Canon customers have been for 8 months tormented by a sluggish autofocus and were also more than twice as much as the issue what the camera will cost today.
