Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Who knows Patrick Doyle? Very few, because its work will be limited to more quieter movies. However, just has he angagiert for the fourth installment of the Potter series to compose the score. John Williams, the three sensational soundtrack had previously delivered to the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha" turned on, because he was doing for a long time to write the film version the score, thus "Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire" had no chance ...
And I as an avowed Williamsfan was skeptical at first, and found the music to be too one-dimensional and simple. However, this skeptic with repeated listening, because only then is the music of Doyle their strength ...

Doyle is of course totally different to the music, as Williams. He has a much more romantic and classic style that the action-packed film may perhaps become unlikely, but that's why has a certain appeal.
With "The Story Continues" Doyle demonstrates his great cooperation of old and new material. The new and dramatic, grim theme for Voldemort, which turns out to be the motif at the end, mixes with the wonderful Harry subject that is the only issue that has been taken from its predecessors.
"Frank Dies" is the gloomy introduction accompaniment for the dismal scene at the beginning, with equally dismal elements.
"The Quidditch World Cup" shows the score but then from a completely different angle and indeed with Scottish elements and a magnificent overture for the Quidditch World Cup. In the second half of the track then changes into a magnificent male choir singing with trommelndem background. A very great and striking track.
"The Dark Mark" is very exciting and dramatic with the new Voldemortthema in a strong variation, while "Foreign Visitors Arrive" a bright and sonorous introduction of new main thread, alongside the Voldemortmotiv.
This opens the same the next track "The Goblet Of Fire", which is heard more and more mystical and colorful leaves and blossom the new Hogwarts motif, while the piece at the end again drifts into the very Voldemortthema and ends in dark drum rhythms.
"Rita Skeeter" is a quick and wonderful, crazy melody to Rita Skeeter, the well accompanied her devious and macabre character.
"Sirius Fire" is another beautiful version of Voldemortthemas in slow tones.
And also "Harry Lake Dragons" used this motif that works at the beginning rather than threat motif.
"The Golden Egg" is a very elegant action track that does not really stand out for unnecessary synths, but by the almost uniform Olympic opening sequence. Here the own theme for this battle of Harry used the dragon and to the Voldemort / threat topic. A tense and epochal title!
Now Doyle is very classic and experiment: "Neville's Waltz" is suspect as the title makes a very impressive waltz variant. Very lively and harmonious and gives the film a great flair.
"Harry in Winter" is the beautiful elaboration of the new main theme, which is used for Harry himself. A truly zuaberhafte melody that I would not have believed Doyle, because that gives "Harry Potter" an almost similar flexible and impressive side as "A Window To The Past" in Williams' The Prisoner Of Azcaban ".
"Potter Waltz" is another peppy and dynamic waltz, written specifically for the film. This sounds even more beautiful and easier than "Neville's Waltz" and underscored the Yule Ball at Hogwarts.
"Underwater Secrets" can sing underwater creatures namely the wonderful and mysterious song that explains the next task in the Triwizard Tournament. Very atmospheric and enchanting sounds of this fairytale song.
With "The Black Lake", it then goes on equal dramatically, in the style of "The Golden Egg", but in an appropriate atmosphere: here affects what is happening much more hectic and more threatening and the eerie choirs the underwater world of the forbidden lake looks much credible.
"The Hogwarts March" is a lively and again very interesting kind of Doyle: A kind of brass band plays the perky march of Hogwarts (the Doyle also composes himself) just like in the movie.
"The Maze" be the score then slowly run to the final. A dark and driving piece which ushers the listener very enthralling in the longest track on the album. This title is the soundtrack for the fiendish and ingenious finale of the film. First, with many variations of Voldemortthemas, it will sound at the end in a magical version of the new Harry theme, a grand final of the play!
"Death Of Cedric" is, apart from the spoiler content, again very interesting for the mood of the soundtrack: a dramatic and heartbreaking version of the new Harry theme. Very impressive!
"Another Year Ends" is slowly winding down after the score and the movie with the Hogwarts theme and "Hymn To Hogwarts" is the gentle piece for the end credits, which sounds simple at first, but after listening to the score has a great power.

This Potter Core is different! Different but good! Who would have thought that Patrick Doyle own style, paired with great classical elements and a serious mood, created that can connect to the scores of Williams?
Of course he is not John Williams, but his work speaks for him, I think. After several listens to recognize the force behind this unique score ...

The rock songs are at the end of the ball scene in the middle of the movie. Absolute matter of taste and actually absolutely inappropriate for "Harry Potter", but the title "Do The Hippogriff" rocks but very nice and already can hear well in the Score.

Respect to Doyle, who has written an impressive score for the fourth Potter film. Many new topics, interesting ideas and style approaches and also the magic of "Harry Potter" in a new guise.
