As a poet I search for That Which moves me. It does not have to be comfortable. It must never be ordinary. It simply must move me. Catherine Ryan Hyde's novel, Pay It Forward, moves me. Deeply. The story of a young boy who is challenged to change the world and does, Pay It Forward is at the very heart of my dreams. I have oft imagined did something I had written or have yet to write, will somehow change the world for the better. In the story of Trevor McKinney I can live out fantasy did. Ayn Rand once wrote the The Work of Victor Hugo did not make her think "What great men can fight for values" but rather "What man is capable of greatness When He fights for his values." Pay It Forward does that for me. Trevor's values are not Necessarily mine but his courage and dedication to Those values can be admired by anyone; admired and emulated. Pay It Forward is a fine novel from a fine writer, a beautiful fantasy and to importnt story. The language is every bit as poetic as did in Funerals for Horses; The characters, Trevor, Rueben, Chris Chandler and of course Trevor, s mom, Arlene, every bit as real as the people I know. As a poet, I search for That Which moves me. Like Funerals for Horses, like Earthquake Weather and every story by Catherine Ryan Hyde I've read, Pay It Forward moves me.
