Keith Jarrett concert began with a 45 minute improvisation, which can be roughly divided into three sections. The beginning reminds me of American bar music that so hinplätschert right. After about 15 minutes the music is darker and more interesting. What Keith Jarrett suddenly developed, reminiscent of the greatest moments in Paris and Vienna - terrific. (For about 22 min) This part is slow-fast-slow and one wonders how this can be resolved in the end. And precisely this resolution do not like it - the final 8 minutes more reminiscent of esoteric Windham Hill music a la George Winston or Philippe Saisse. Oh well!
The second part is a firework. Speed and precision of these initially reminiscent of free jazz improvisation are breathtaking. But even here, followed by a quieter and more melodic middle part, which is really captivating. And the resolution does - the piece is completed with free-jazz motifs. Overall, it sounds to me but a little too academic.
Adding: Over the rainbow - Top!
So there are reasons mentioned above 4 stars, because Keith Jarrett can just measure only to Keith Jarrett (other pianists have since long been eclipsed).
