The Nokia Lumia 830 comes in a nice box small enough, with dun Quick Start booklet including just a few pages. The grip is not very complex. The phone is a little larger quun iPhone 4/5 and barely thicker. The plastic back unclip it takes to insert the SIM card (it comes here dune nano-SIM), possibly a micro-SD card and the battery does not seem dune rock solid and has a small side Vintage.
The initial start is long enough, and passed this milestone, we are taken over by the assistant DInstalling. This is very clear, and advance step by step, each time with an explanation both concise and understandable. Then arrives at the interface of Windows Phone, and it's a little complicated. Personally, I find this rather interesting navigation based adjoining panels, but it turns out sometimes confusing (especially the reorganization of icons samuse when trying to resize / delete can be frustrating when a miss for the 5th time) and permanent movements of certain icons are rather disturbing in the long run. I have not found how to remove them.
I connected the phone to my Mac with the supplied cable. My default photo manager (Aperture) souvre automatically, and the Lumia appears in the list of connected cameras, ready to import the images but unfortunately see any of the photos in the photo library of Lumia!
The application must be installed "Windows Phone to Mac" (available free on the Mac App Store) to manage multimedia content, photos, videos, music. It has an interface that is reminiscent of iTunes, and that is quite obvious of use. However, even by selecting Aperture as an application to manage photos, it can not seem to use my library and generates an error. We can still directly access photos using "Search on the unit" in the sidebar. And this is where lon realizes that the picture quality is rather poor (I thought Lumia series was known for the quality of its cameras, this is not the case, at least for this model - in his defense, I difficult picture!).
No problem against the level of music or video (if the files are present in the iTunes library, which is a bit limited), which is transferred quickly into the phone. Video playback is smooth and the colors are fairly well reproduced. There are, however, a catch: of 4 videos (all in Mpeg 4), 3 are deformed (crushed in width), and I havent found any way to remedy the problem.
To synchronize contacts and calendars, seems to be the ideal solution to connect to his iCloud account. Unfortunately, my home, this operation always fails with error 80072EE7 absconce.
In summary, the phone is not bad, with a pretty nice screen less bulky than the phablets, and is much more accessible to Mac users as Android phones, but there is still a lot of problems that make its use daily too difficult.
