The legendary British folk-rock group has managed to "Solomon's Seal" to move away from that in the early phase and sometimes dominant (z. B. on "Cruel Sister") somewhat boring pentatonic. The compositions are melodic and jazzy with an even stronger emphasis on the bass. Otherwise, the artful and thanks to the voice of Bert Jansch partly idiosyncratic slant-fusion of folk, blues rock, jazz and British Renaissance music, familiar from earlier Pentangle recordings.
"Solomon's Seal" is my favorite album of Pentangle. My original LP has become unusable with poor needle many years to hire and playing before. A CD was a long time coming, because allegedly the master tape was lost. There was but luckily a few years ago again. Shortly thereafter, the CD came out.
Technically sound "Solomon's Seal" better than previously published Pentangle CDs. The first CDs (without Remaster) sounded quite musty. While the remastered versions brought significant improvements (brilliant), but partly new artifacts were added -. Eg vocal distortion in "Basket of Light", which has already criticized another reviewer before me.
