In addition to the 70D, which replaces the 40D, I use another elderly 450D and, from then, a 5D Mark II, which is not however in my possession.
Would I want to buy the camera now, and read before the Amazon reviews, I would probably escape frightened to another model. Good thing I did not do that. Although there was early December also been a few negative reviews, but not as much as now.
To make story short: I am very satisfied with the camera. The focus problems do not occur with my happiness.
I have an illustrious selection of lenses is available, from WW to Macro, from the Lichstarken FB for super zoom.
Interestingly, I have the impression that the normal AF is sharper and more accurate than the point LV Focus. What is contrary to most complaints here.
The single lens in which I had to correct a slight back focus in the camera settings, was the Olle EF 50 II 1.8. This makes but what it wants with other bodysuits.
Here again a short summary of my view:
Pros:
- Bildqalität, although the Canon typical light color drawing, but noise performance fantastically.
- Autofocus is fast and reliable.
- LiveView finally mature.
- Good touch display.
- Very good operability.
- Built-in flash can be used as master.
- Kit lens remarkably well. (Compared to the old EF-S 18-55 shards ...)
- Fast continuous shooting.
- General functionality with Wi-Fi, Scene Modes, swivel display, etc.
Cons:
-no proximity sensor to turn off the display. I miss in many high end Canon ...
Enclosures Although sealed, but entirely of plastic. Need not be a disadvantage, but the D40 feels better.
-no GPS on board
Otherwise there is not much to criticize. The camera is great fun!
I am glad that I am not put off by negative reviews did.
An alternative to the camera would hardly occur to me in the Canon camp. The three-digit maintain clear distance in the operation, the 60D and the 7D are slightly graying and can use the equipment hardly keep up and the rest is already full frame ...
I would say among the Canon APS-Cs is the 70D at the time the queen.
