For the transition from DSL, you can connect the DSL modem to the WAN port, reset the router under "Network" on "3G Preferred" and enter under the WAN PPPoE credentials of the DSL connection. Once the activation of the SIM card is carried out, the router automatically uses the 3G network. We had our Telekom router set to PPPoE pass through and make sure that no IP address conflict arises.
In summary, this is a cheap and robust alternative to an expensive Speedport LTE by Deutsche Telekom. This manual confirms this.
Gimmick: To measure the amount of traffic, the router has a UPnP command. For queries you can use on Ubuntu such as UPnP router control.
