More than 5 years I used a vacuum cleaner Electrolux Mondo with 5x filter system. As this is a question of a somewhat rare vacuum cleaner, you got the filter really only directly from Husqvarna sales. Spending on dust bag and motor filter amounted to approximately EUR 25 / year.
After the electronic suction power was broken (only full suction power), I decided to buy a new vacuum cleaner.
Why just a Dyson?
1. NO loss of suction
The Electrolux Mondo had an enormous suction power, but has been steadily weaker in freshly used dust bag and motor filter. The suction was purely subjective in a semi-full dust bag at about 50%.
2. No charge for bags and filters
As described above, the cost of consumables amounted to approximately EUR 25 / year.
3. HEPA FILTER
Except for hayfever nobody in my household has an allergy. However, for me it is important that the fine pollen sucked from the carpet and not be issued again to the room air.
4. STINK
Well, the dust bag in Mondo was no longer fresh, it smelled occasionally get behind. Therefore, the new should be odorless.
5th place
The Mondo was actually quite compact, but the chrome tube was rigid and did not let be adjusted in height.
6. POWER CONSUMPTION
Although the power consumption may play a significant role for most. Current models of Miele and Siemens have betw. 2.000 and 2.500 Watts.
7. SERVICE, ACCESSORIES, level of craftsmanship
Special accessories was not available to the Mondo, service nil.
What does the Dyson better?
to 1: What Mr. Dyson promises in the advertising that the device actually holds. A loss of suction did not have a material until now. The dust container is true to the last 3 `suction orgies' Although relatively full, but the Dyson sucks still with the usual high suction power.
In general, the suction force of the Dyson receives the predicate `HUGE '. The Contact Head nozzle stuck stubbornly on the carpet and prevent the flexible mechanism, the lifting and the associated loss of contact during the return .. The disadvantage that a higher force is required for vacuuming of carpet coatings will be rewarded by a totally dust-free carpet. On parquet (eg using the enclosed Parquet) or on the tiles Dyson glides smoothly over the floor.
Tip: For very plush carpets two red flaps may additionally be opened at the bottom of the Contact Head brush, to further distribute the suction force and a seizure to prevent "the carpet.
to 2:
Purchasing a Dyson is relatively expensive, but the running costs amount to 0. Within the two-year warranty on all parts of vacuum cleaners to be replaced without difficulty. In an e-mail request due to the slightly oblique bonded flexible hose the Contact Head brush, a substitute was immediately sent within 2 days.
to 3:
When Hepa filter is a sponge-like permanent filter. That is, the filter only needs to be washed every 3-4 months under running water. It is located directly above the engine and can be seen with two handles. Moreover, the filter has an anti-bacterial.
to 4:
Thanks to the HEPA filtering of Dyson emits no odor to the environment. The only thing you smell is the `Neugeräte' odor.
to 5:
The Dyson is just as easy to merge as shown in the advertisement. The telescopic tube is collapsed, the brush away, wrapped the hose taut along the guides to the Dyson and hooked - Done. So the Dyson also fits in a closet.
to 6:
The Dyson needs only 1,400 watts. That is about 600-900 watts less as vacuum cleaner with a comparable suction. The power saving is therefore enormous.
to 7:
The company Dyson offers countless MFP Options that starts with the soft brush and ends with Car-care package. The accessories are available at Amazon at fair rates.
Highly recommended is the flexible crevice tool, brush and soft brush mattresses.
That accessory is processed excellent and has no sharp edges.
In general, the processing of the Dyson device at a high level. Sharp edges in vain. The stressed parts, eg dust container, made of polycarbonate, that under the trade name Makrolon is known. It is shockproof, scratch resistant and extremely durable.
The other parts are made of ABS plastic. The wheels are gentle on delicate floors and absolutely non-slip; generally is the Dyson bombproof in its place - no tipping, no sanding.
What's not so good at Dyson?
Also, the Dyson has some weaknesses. What bothers me most is the hose. This consists of a very flexible, soft plastic and y'know already after the first use abrasions and rough spots on.
The reason is that the hose has a permanent demand, to wrap around the Dyson, which is due to the fact that the hose when stowing to the Dyson is wrapped. Here, the tube like tangled on the nozzle holder back. One drawback is that is led to the unit fixed to the front of the tube and only the handle has a stiff deflection. Especially at the beginning annoys you often that the hose has twisted. Also the hose leaves marks on the dust container, but rather optically negatively noticeable.
The telescopic tube is relatively easy, but extremely thick. But what most bothers is the fact that it is only really tight when the lower and middle part was fully extended and locked. In the collapsed state, you can feel how the air is sucked at the junctions and loses the suction force of suction. You can work around the problem by attaching the respective attachment directly to the hose.
The Contact Head brush is unfortunately higher than 5 cm. This is particularly annoying when the base of boxes are too low. Nevertheless, to get these bodies clean, you have to use the parquet nozzle or upholstery. Furthermore, the contact head nozzle is substantially wider than those of the competition. In large rooms, but all this is of course not a problem for small tight spaces a little nerve-wracking experience. The method should take into account in any case when buying.
In general, the Dyson seems at the beginning to be very cumbersome to use. This means that you must change to something. After the second `suction orgy 'but I had figured out how to get the Dyson best served and can now say that he is at least equal if not more manageable than the Mondo.
Conclusion:
On the whole, the high investment has paid off. The perfect vacuum cleaner is the Dyson, but he plays loose, not only from the price, in the elite. Emptying and occasional washing of the dust container is simple and straightforward, but should not be performed in allergic patients in the living room anyway. So who here has no other option, you should get a device with a closed system (eg devices from Siemens, Miele) would prefer.
