I just read a review that explains how this machine is disappointing, because it does not do the same as machines worth three times the price. Funny design things ... Personally, I already very well that such a device - rather nice looking - allows to scan documents, print (very good) photos and texts, or to make photocopies without even having to turn on his computer! And then there is a function "wifi" well designed that offers the ability to share the printer among multiple stations of a wireless network. In its initial configuration, it was enough to connect the MP495 to my PC (under Win7 64-bit) with the USB cable provided in the box, run the installation program also provided, and in less than 5 minutes the Pixma was ready to run on the network. It then remains is to disconnect the USB cable and place the printer where desired (personally, I chose my office cubicle). This machine is now shared by two PC, Netbook (XP) and a Macbook Pro (Snow Leopard) it gives me satisfaction. Another point that has influenced my choice: the fact that one is not forced to buy "individual cartridges" for colors, a system that presents as "economical" for years, but which - fact - is more expensive than two cartridges "blocks" such as the MP495. So, okay, this printer is very fast and done a bit of noise during its initialization, but it works very well (fingers crossed) and is the ideal choice for a family who are followers of computers all floors.
