Customer Review

Philipp Poisel, discovered by Herbert Grönemeyer himself awakened with his first album "Where does your sky" great expectations among critics and fans. The man who is called by his mentor as "Troubadour", understood it skillfully to build with his lyrics, melodies and arrangements a world that took her listeners on a journey through Poisels life. That it continue this succeeds, he shows with "to Toulouse" ...

The album eponymous song "to Toulouse" actually manages to celebrate the great emotional state of these songs in perfection: longing. So rich Poisel the simple words in the chorus "Good it is not / Without You" to specify the direction of the long player. Poisel not yet seem to have arrived and continue the journey to himself that he on "Where does your sky" has begun. A twentysomethings in search of love, home and happiness. In particular, is the second half of the album, beginning with "All The Years", amazingly thoughtful and quiet therefore.

But Poisel can be different. With "In The Garden Of Gettis" he sings about the ephemeral island-holiday-lives of young people. But even here it does not let go the love when the song reaches its climax in the fact that it "the girl from Paris" at the evening campfire on the cliff slopes encountered. Also "Ignite All fire" and "Glad to be there" sit down on the rest of the album.

Overall govern longing thoughtfulness and the search for the self. Is indicative of "between inside and outside" when Poisel sings of the inner conflict between freedom and the thirst for adventure and love and security ("I want to see you beside me / And I will go alone and free"). Further noteworthy is the first single "How can a man enduring": Poisel played the song already during his concert tours and thus inspired his fans so much that one of the better live recordings of songs on the video channel YouTube has seen almost half a million clicks before publication.

Poisels voice is fragile, even the louder moments of the album. His texts record the songs in a special way: he knows how to express his thoughts and feelings clear without cheesy in just a moment or therefore come to Platt. The band seems even rehearsed than "Where does your sky" and knows how pointedly the words Poisels to inferior.

It should be noted that the man from southern Germany has managed with this album, to put another exclamation mark after his name. Poisels music stands for honesty and life in all its facets. The current difficult second album gets here on a consistent continuation and development. It will be interesting if Poisel it continues to develop, to build on this high level.
