Plate for particular purpose

Ok, this board was already discussed umpteen times controversial. I find it absurd to be included in the assessment of the device hardware failure caused by poor packaging. A DOA board (dead on arrival) just has to be exchanged, even if it's annoying. What Samsung absolutely not abkann are mechanical loads (lintels, offend, etc.) because the read / write heads of the panels are 'parked'.
Here WD is a bit further, and parks the heads on a separate plastic holder, removed from the plates (if this brings?). But does a green WD-comparison model with 32MB cache but well twice and is depending on the version before a few decibels louder. So there's nothing like a good packaging during transport :)

Now to the device itself. It should be about the fact that a plate is designed with only 5400 revolutions for a very specific purpose clear. Namely backups or fanless housing (such as in Movie boxes, HD recorders, etc..). Here the 'EcoGreen' plates can shine, because they will not just warm. The operating system disk or fast A / V board I would not recommend this part, however: there give 7200 plates (fan required) significantly more gas.

To operate:

You can probably make a judgment in a few years over the life of the panel. I had been in recent years after several disappointments with disk crash the brands IBM, Maxtor and WD always Samsung, (almost 20 boards, ranging from 120GB to 1.5TB models today). In no single Samsung was there ever problems, all the plates are still running today as the first day. The volume has never changed over the years. However, I had bought when possible RAID models.
The 'big' Brummer from Samsung (1.5, 2.0 TB), there are not as RAID model; So wait and see :) backups you need anyway.

The board has, incidentally, in contrast to her 'little' sister, the HD153UI, twice as much cache, namely 32 MB. Meanwhile, there is already a successor, the HD153WI, with the same capacity and the same cache, but with additional "EcoGreen F3". Maybe that's more economical, but also more expensive. The HD153WI also seems to be slightly slower than the HD154UI. Who needs more space, should think about a HD203WI, the 2TB model with 'EcoGreen F3' label, Maintaining an enormous music is the Samsung currently has in the program.
