Here is a book in which the author shows how the artists of the eighteenth to the twentieth century outperformed scientists. They used some peculiarities of our senses to their works. Proust and the power of odors, Cézanne and attention to lines, Stravinsky and our need to hear musical notes in a certain order ... Each chapter is dedicated to an artist and a meaning. In the second part of each chapter the author, after describing the work of the artist and have resituated in his time, shows how scientists will discover and especially to explain these peculiarities. This is interesting because it shows that artists play with our sens.Leur approach was empirical but they knew exploit the unrecognized wealth of our senses.
